Hi everyone,
Its time for me to replace my fuel injectors, I did a search here and I see lots of posts for stating about ford#19's. that will work for the late model years
What non OEM injectors will work in my 1984 model year?
Thanks
Chris

For an 84 you will need to do a lot more work. You'll have to change the fuel rails as well. Your current injectors have barbs on top that go to a 2" hose that attaches to a barb on the bottom of the rail. No other factory injector uses such a setup.

Yep, the injectors you've read about are for the 85+ cars. Sorry. Your best bet is to get them cleaned.
Another place people have used to get them cleaned is Cruizin Performance in Michigan. http://www.cruzinperformance.com/

Ok guys thanks for the info. Here is what I have found
STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS INC.
Part # FJ646
This injector fits the L-jet cars.(I believe that is what my 84 is correct me if I'm wrong).
The nozzle on the injector is just a bit shorter in length compared with the original units. The difference does not seem to effect it at all. Installation was simple. Just slipped the normal o-ring seals on the injector (not included), cut the injector hose to 2" (included and attached to the injector) and install the injector in its place and connect it to the fuel rail. No leaks and everything seems to be running great.
Hope this helps others.

did you add any clamps to the fuel line on the injectors?? If not you should. Both to the fuel rail and the injector

This is why I did the ford injectors for the '85 Euro - I was building a rail - but Carl's came out with perfect timing! For the cost of rails and injectors - I think it's the best bang for the buck! Not to mention the dual 2 1/2 inch exhaust.![Stick Out Tongue](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
I don't know if you'll need a adjustable fuel regulator for your car or not, but the '85 runs too lean without one.

There are high-impedance and low-impedance injectors.
Early US is one type, Later US is the other, not sure which is which
That's what I remember from research last year, but I can't seem to find the references.
(Edit: Here's a one line answer posted by Steve Catteneo a couple years ago: 80-84 injector resistance is 2.5 ohm, 85 and up is 16.0 ohm; installing the lower resistance injector in a later car will damage the LH controller.)

Yes clamps were added. I redone the fuel rails last weekend with new injector hoses. I cut off all the originals so I made sure I used clamps at both the injector side and the rail side.
