Coming out of Hibernation....
It was a long winter....I'm back to putting the interior back into the car it's an 83 s model automatic....wanted to fire up the engine and move the car to another spot car cranks fuel is pumping but after a few cranks the engine stops cranking...I replace the relay's to Fuel pump, FI and pretty much most of the rest of the relay's too.
If left for about 15-20min it will crank again for about 30sec then no more....I noticed a slight burnt smell in the air. I have traced the smell to the drivers front fender on the inside of the hood by the radiator....I will try and post a pic once I get some batteries for the camera. I felt the wires that run along with the hood release cable warm to the touch. Right below these wires are two m80 size electrical components mounted along the wall by the radiator on both ends wires are screwed to contacts that are attached. The top one is very hot to touch and the one right below is cool..on one side they are wired in sequence. I know a pic would be a big help.....can't find out or figure out what these are for....My guess is a voltage insulator...ah but what do I know...ANY and all help would be great and appreciated. I will try and post a pic of the area asap. Thanks in advance

those are the resistors for the coil they will get hot if the car has been sitting its possible that the resistors got dirt on them and they are just burning off.
Give a quick spray of ether into the intake and crank it. also check the battery connections and the hot post connections as well as the 14 pin connector above the hot post

Thanks Merlin!
The ones thats giving off the smokey scent is dirty and a has an oily residue on it...Not sure why, as the one below it is clean...Thanks very much for the tip......will get to it hopefully tomorrow night...I just had the battery recharged at the local shop...and have a back up battery if it drains it while trying to refire it up.... Once again, a Big Thanks!!
