Default "oelstand" warning light

I own a 1979 Euro 5 -speed. Today a warning light "OELSTAND" came on and the hazard/parking brake light started flashing. later, about 8hrs, I started it up and it was still flashing the warning. I translated it online to "oil state". Is that low oil level or what? I've had a slight leak from the passenger cam cover, it smokes a bit in the morning and then goes away, I've been meaning to try and fix it but haven't had time.

I checked it and its full. I'm wondering if its an electrical problem. I restarted and fine oil levels good. Along with the warning light came a low charging level, only bouncing off 10 volts, so I figured the light was an alternator warning. I translated and oil level. Now that I restarted the alternators reading better, still low under 12 but not bouncing off the bottom, and the oil warning went away. I guess everythings fine, I hope.
