removing baked-on gaskets
So is there any easier way to remove ancient baked paper gaskets? This is the cam tower gasket. I've removed a lot of head gaskets over the years and never seen one as bad as this, not even on a Honda with 400k miles on it - going to take years at the rate I'm going. I'm hoping there's something like "paint this goop on and just peel it off after a couple hours."

This thing is unreal, I've got about 2 hours before my back gives out. Several hours into it and I've barely made a dent in the damn thing even with a spray gasket remover. It helps, but I have to scrape the top layer off before it will penetrate. I'm pretty sure it's the original gasket, baked doesn't even begin to describe it. Maybe I'll be done by SITM.

You can better concentrate the 'remover' with a brush where you can apply ample amounts directly to a specific areas.
Use sharp blades but apply enough force to remove the gasket only so not to gouge the metal.
I use Snap-On scrapers until I get through the gasket enough to where the razors effectively work otherwise your breaking/blunting a whole bunch of blades.
