Default Small devek rad leak

I have a small pin size hole in my devek rad, passenger side bottom,it leaks about the size of a quarter. The rad fluid was recently changed and it seems that previous owner put rad sealer in the mixture, now that theirs no more sealer in there, shes leaking again. Can i just put a small tack weld rite over were the drip is?

I had the same problem with the Devek radiator that came in my car. I just found a used one local, had it rebuilt and the car ran much cooler with no leaks. (thanks soontobered)

I have used this before and it works http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=44810. I will try it on my Devek radiator as soon as it starts leaking . And probably I will try JB Weld and see if it will hold up before using the aluminum rod.

Interesting thanks for that, its either that or back to the stop leak stuff.

Are your end tanks glued on with epoxy?

I had my radiator flushed and rebuilt when I got my 81. Cheap I think it was around 125.00 or something.

Careful sidehatch, stop leaked killed a friend's shark's engine - caused a head gasket blowout. Ended up with a new engine. Much cheaper in the long run (and short run for that matter) to fix/replace the rad.

Yeah, I am not sure if I want metal particles (stop leak) flowing through my engine and water pump constantly. Eventually something is going to give.

Chances are that the radiator is leaking from inside. Deveks early radiators used two different metals between the end tanks and the core. They were all welded together so rebuilding is pretty much out of the question unless you send it straight to C&R here in Texas. Eventually I will be doing that with mine.

Cheaper and quicker fix is just to find a used Porsche one.
