BUMP!

I'm a little pissed. Yesterday I took my car to a local muffler shop that's done some minor work on my other cars and had them put another O2 bung in the crossovers (already using two: one for narrow band and one for wide-band). So I gave them the bung and he put it in (looks like crap) and he must have welded it without the plug in it because the plug doesn't go in or out. I think the guy forced it in when it was hot (maybe 1 turn) and it wouldn't go any further.

Now I have to swing by there at 8:00am tomorrow to see if they can fix it on the way over to the dyno place. Luckily it's only about 5 minutes away.

See you there and hopefully I won't have to disco the wideband to be able to get my car done. The tailpipe sniffer was NOT my friend last time.

Should I bring a canopy cover in case of rain?

See you in the AM!

Mike, An 18mm spark plug tap will chase the threads for the 02.

Thanks Tony. I think the guy actually got the bung out of round. I'm going to see if they can fix it in the am and if not I may have to figure something out at the shop. I still plan to be at the place by 8:30.

Do you have a spark plug tap just in case?

When you weld the bung, it always shrinks, so they should have tapped it. I bought a 18mm tap at NAPA for around $10.

I was a little surprised he didn't show me the work he did when he was done (they usually do that). When I laid on my belly in the parking lot I saw why: It looks like someone threw up under there. Really messy job. I had a 10mm allen wrench with me and I tried to loosen it but it wouldn't budge. I thought it was just because I couldn't get any leverage on it. I should have taken it back in right then.

Man I wish I knew how to weld. This is the only thing I've let anyone touch on my car and he screwed it up.

They probably gave the job to 'the new guy'.

What's nice about steel, you can just grind it off, and start over. Best to remove the X-pipe, first, though.

Sorry Mike, don't have the tap.
Canopy sounds good just for some shade.

Its not suppose to but if rain is a question call the shop or email me toofast928@yahoo.com.

Jim your GT put down some serious power!
It was fun and plenty of food. I got more data off those runs than I can digest. Plan on going back to BigDaddy's next year.

I had a great time too and although I was 'low man on the totem pole' (291 at the wheels) I was glad to get a few consistent runs for future comparisons.

Kind of stinks that some of the guys didn't show up, but I'm definitely looking forward to going back, hopefully soon to see the effects of some changes I have planned.

Thanks for putting this together Tony and for finding such a great place for it.

We can go back at end of Sept or Oct. This was a tryout to see if BigDaddy would let us tune our cars. I love to get more boost readings and move timing around.

Hey everybody, I sent an E-mail to Big Daddy and asked about getting copies of the files from the dyno. He said I could swing by there and pick them up anytime. It's right around the corner from me so I'll probably go before Saturday. If anyone wants a copy of their file let me know and I'll send it via e-mail.
