Hi 928 guys and gals,
Thanks to Bill Ball's help (via email) I was able to determine the problem with my AC is that switch under the cowl plastic. Bypassing allows the AC to work well even as a 134a conversion. The question is - what is this switch, what does it do, and what is it connected to on the bottom. I tried to remove it but it is connected via something below and I didn't want to tug too hard to see what.
Thanks,
Dennis

OK, thanks, so I can manually be the freeze switch for now via the AC button, but what is it connected to underneath? Is that a vacuum line or is copper tubing or is it trickier than that to replace?

it is a metal tube that rests between the condenser fins. Two screws hold in in , remove these and you should be able to pull out. The a/c shop that 'worked' on mine bypassed this and a/c would run until it froze up. Mine was spliced underneath the consul so was fairly easy to repair. Now I do my own a/c and have not have had to work on either 928 for about 5 years. I do have most equipment, and that does help.

Your compressor stays on all the time you will start to loose cool air once it freezes and is hard on the compressor. It comes off, as with any 928 item with a little fanfare, do a search and look for info.
