Ok, I know this is a somewhat boring question for many of you but I'll ask anyways since I can't decide what to do.
When I purchased the GT it included the original license plate frames provided with the car from the original dealer. I thought it would be cool to make it look exactly the way it did when it left the showroom floor. But the plate frames are also very retro and obviously not from any dealers near me.
So here are the options:
1. Keep front plate off and use a modern black painted rear frame (current)
2. Refinish the original plates with the Gold Plating Black Lettering
3. Refinish the original plates with Black Paint and White Lettering
Here is a shot of the current frame. Note that the second frame is pitted and faded much worse than this one is.

Personally I like some of the retro plate frames. If you could get them re-done at a resonable price I would do that.
I was fortunate in that my dad drove a 73 911E that I borrowed for my HS prom which he sold the following weekend. He kept the licence frame and sent it to me when I told him that I got the S4. I have never seen anything else like it. I have looked and looked but haven't been able to find anything like it anywhere and again I was lucky as I do not have a front plate and only needed the one. It is solid brass with black epoxy/resin inlays.
Anyhow, refinish the originals OR upgrade to something nicer.
That's my .02

I'll post pics later.

j/k - I like retro stuff like this. I also favor the black and gold color combo too - it's in my blood as a Steelers and Peguins fan! (okay, and I guess the Pirates too:-(

Thanks guys, seems unanimous.
I'm going to put some time aside to at least get the plates redone. I just need to find a good gold plating shop and I should be all set.
