Cayenne S Hands me my Ass

Three Wheelin'
In about 1980 I bought a 72 Pantera. Went out to pick up the Pantera in my soon to be sold 1970
911S. On the way home I was very interested to see which was faster. I was driving my 911, my friend the Pantera. I took of and was ringing the little revver through the gears and was absolutely killing the Pantera. At about 120 I hear a roar and the Pantera went flying by. We slowed and I asked my bud how the hell I could kill him up to 100+ and at about 120 he was stomping me. He said when we started he just left it in fifth gear. I don't care how fast you are but if you are three gears above where you should be your going to get smoked.

Hmmm. I have a Cayenne (main car) and a 928 (project car). So not sure if I feel happy for the asian kid or sad for heinrich and the 928. At least it's all in the Porsche family.

strap on & whoop you *** in one sentence.....maybe I'm just a perv
CayenneS......385hp and nearly 5000lbs.....it shouldn't even be close.....however it does go to show the power of MOMENTUM....that 5000lbs was running at you before you noticed.....thats quite a bit to overcome at cruise speed in 4th....

There must be more wrong than what you say. The Cayenne S is a quick SUV but most any 928 should pull on it. I found my Cayenne turbo to be slightly faster than my GTS but not much although when you downshift the CT and all the torque comes on at once it launches that 5000 pounds awfully quickly. Not sure if the GTS will keep up with it when the boost kicks in hard although the GTS has tons of torque and power too when you drop it a bgear and bring the revs up.

That must be the same 9 year old Asian kid in a white Cayman S that dumped my a$$ last year in THE OC Couldn't show my face for a month I will no longer get into a pissing contest with anyone under the age of 15

At least the Asian kid was driving a Porsche. Every time I see a kid fly by me (no matter what their race) they're usually driving a souped up Civic or Eclipse... except for the one time a dude flew by me in an Aston Martin. I floored it to catch up with him (quite quickly if I do say so myself) and to my surprise the driver couldn't have been more than 20 years old. Damn rich kids.

But you will still have to shift down to build boost.
The auto is a superior street racer. It will shift down one or two gears in a blink of an eye, and would have put the squeeze on that pepper fo' sure.
The five speed is great - if you have time to plan ahead.

Yeah but the Cayenne shifts just as quick. Just stomp on the pedal and it will amaze you.

Ken, while you're correct with the speed of shifts in the auto, I dread that brief bog initially shifting into 3rd with just a bit too much gap between gears.
Nail it while still in the top of 2nd and woohoo! for the cams, but I avoid any play time beginning in the 80-90 range...90+ and we're back in business.
...then again, Sata still has stock exhaust, so I'm expecting the x-pipe with your EZR'r will clean-up lower-3rd ...I take back what I said, 86.5 auto's rock

In this case, the spice truck had too much energy for Heinrich to have had much of a chance, even with his 50ftlb RMB.

A looser torque converter would be nice. Now that I have a 5-speed for longer trips, I might have my converter modified...
