Well, its in the UK so won't be much use to many of you but what the hell,

www.928spares.co.uk

I originally posted this (on Pistonheads)
Just after a few opinions really,

I own a 928GTS. The clutch arm bush is making horrible squeely noises and the pedal has gone stiff in use. On top of this the clutch system needs bleeding.

I have previously used a PorscheTech nicion close to me whose praises Iv sung over the years but after taking 6 weeks to change my cambelt, and then;

Tried to talk me out of changing the thermostat myself after the cambelt was changed as he 'forgot' it needed changing. And I really do mean that he really tried to talk me out of it, even said 'whats the point, its not doing any harm' even though it was stuck open and the car was only reaching 60 degrees.

Then I found out why. One of the bolts holding the stat housing had been threaded..... unfortunately, I can't prove it can I? The stat housing had been taken off to do the cambelt, that much was plain and obvious by the marks on the bolts and finger marks.

And this on the back of not letting me have the car back because he hadn't written up the invoice and 'didn't know how much I owed' and as such I'd have to wait until he knew (Id offered to leave a substantial amount of cash there and either collect or drop off the difference next day) !

Anyway, I digress;

Iv got to take the car somewhere, I really don't want to tackle this myself.

The cambelt will need retensioning
Clutch pedal sorting

and then, if theres time theres a wierd buzz/tone/whine noise behind the dash which over on rennlist they've pointed to a leak in the 'Hvac' (Hivac?) system.

Im based central England, certainly don't mind a couple hours travel (tops).
Who to go to?

ETA: Up till now Id used the same PorscheTech nicion for the last 9 years! Two 944T's, a 996, and this 928.

Then I got a recommendation for Paul, today I posted this

A BIG thumbs up for Paul. www.928spares.co.uk

What a guy, was well worth the trip down to drop the car off and well worth the trip to collect.

A straight, honest chap. If Id have had all the work done by the chap I used to use no doubt it would have taken twice the time and cost 50% more.

Went a little bit mad, not only had all the issues fixed but also had a few more bits done including full brand new Bilstein Sports fitted!!!

Yes, I spent a small fortune...........The car is fantastic. If you have a 928, or indeed I should think almost any older Porsche then this is your man.

Why oh why I have wasted so much time and money with my local PorscheTech nicion Iv no idea.

A 100% satisfied (over the moon) customer is what I am, poorer, yes, but I have a truly stonking 928GTS, and he even offered to buy it from me for a price which would have seen me equal what the car cost and what I spent with him on it !

www.928spares.co.uk < A proper man to deal with

Oh, and probably should say

He gives you a proper rundown on exactly what's been done and needed doing. In a language you can understand. Moreover, he shows you the old parts and talks you through whats wrong etc etc.

So, for the few on here that are in England, you probably already know about him, but if not...........

Yep... I saw your car there in pieces with shiny bilstein shocks waiting to be fitted the other day, when I was there picking up a replacement engine.
Great guy, a pleasure to deal with.

Hi

Yes Paul Anderson is a great guy who knows everything about 928s....

And i mean everything lol....he races them, fixes them, lives them , breathes them and I wouldn't like to bet hes not got one in his living room

He will be fitting my manual PSD system to my S2 later this month, and I am also having one of the new S4 rear twin boxes he has designed, although it will mean cutting out a semi-circular hole in the rear PU for the pipes.

All the best Brett
