Default 16 valve fuel rail upgrade

Hi all, still in the process of my megsquirt conversion and I decided to upgrade my injectors to 24# ford four hole injectors. I got a great price on a set of 8 new injectors. With these injectors they will not work with the stock fuel rail so I have started to machine a new set out of aluminum. I have posted a pic of my progress below. I plan to make them bolt in with no modification to the stock feed lines. By doing this I will have eliminated the short rubber hose that can be very troublesome for the 16 valve cars if they become brittle and dry rotted. I have a nice plan on how these rails will bolt to the standard injector mounting point on the intake runners. I know they don't look like much yet but hopefully I will have them functional by next weekend.

Are you aware that you can buy premade fuel rail stock and that it is pretty cheap too.

I looked at some of the premade fuel rail stock but I did not see any thing that I realy liked. I don't have a problem machining them from scratch and it will allow me to mount them exactly as I want to.

Shhh...

When you have the material, the equipement, the time and the cash, always funnier to make it yourself.

And ...
Progress?
Say while yer' at it ... how about a drop-in 'slipper' design intake with thumb-lock fastening for my 82'.
:<)
Keep tinkering it's the lifeblood of the 928 line.

I upgraded my fuel rails, I run the 25lbs 4 hole injectors, my conversion cost about $250 and looks totally oem. The cost fuel rails of other Porsche, different fuel injector retainers soldered onto the rail, new hoses to give the flexibilty needed, very important that. Then electroplated.

I think what you are doing would look good on say a car with throttle bodies, I am not so sure about a stock engine. To me it is how it all goes together, if it is piece meal, it wont look the best.

You mean like OEM rails from a later car?

I did a quick mock-up with S4 rails, seams like it's going to work unless I'm missing something.

I had always wondered about that. My 84 is going to get new injectors and rails once the new heads and intake go on in the next couple weeks.

So who sells the premade fuel rails for 84's and the like?

Thanks!

Keith, It is more fuel rail stock that I was refering to. You would still need to cut to length have the correct size holes machined in for the injectors, as well as figure out mounting and hose attachement.

Although Hacker above says that it looks like S4 fuel rails may work.

My plan is to make these a drop in replacement for the 16 valve motor. I had thought about the possibility of using the 32 valve rails but did not want to wait out ebay to get a set to try. Plus when I am done with these they should ne a nice looking piece.

I'm sure 928 International and Roger have them in stock. It's not a very in demand item so I'm sure the price is very low.

Didn't Brendan do that on a 4.5? I have a set of 85-86 rails I planned on using on the race car.
