Dual Exhaust Group Buy - $100 Rennlist Discount
We are switching manufacturers for our stainless steel high-performance dual exhaust pipes.
You may recall that we were having these made for us by Stebro in Canada.
The quality was good and they have performed well, and the owners that have them like them. The performance increase on a 85-86 928 was 28 HP, and about 18 HP on the 87-95 928 when combined with a RMB.
However, the customs and logistics back-and-forth to Canada added delays and expense to these pipes.
Its time for us to have another batch of them made, and this time we are going to make them in 304 (Bright Finish) Stainless Steel. We are using the same manufacturer that makes Mark Anderson's SS RMB - and if you are familiar with it, then you know the quality of the welds and fit and finish are outstanding.
I need to place a minimum order for 10 dual exhausts at a time, and I have setup charges too as we make the manufacturing jigs at the new shop.
A pre-sale to a few Rennlisters would ease the investment we need to make to get this new manufacturer started.
If you want to order now, we will remove $100 from the price of the product for you. We only request payment of 50% down with your order. I expect to be able to ship them in 3-4 weeks.
The retail price of these new, better, dual exhausts will be $849 for the 1987-95 928 (RMB not included)
http://www.928motorsports.com/parts/...ssteeldual.php
and $1299 for 1985-86 where the RMB and extra hangers, clamps, fasteners are included.
http://www.928motorsports.com/parts/truedualexhaust.php
Here are a few photos of the system on the car - please keep in mind the new pipes will be bright finish 304 SSteel where these were not.
I hope you can take advantage of the discount. Please contact Gretchen at 920-485-0928 or at gretchen@928motorsports.com to place your order.

Not so fast, Hendrick. A look at the links I posted show that we already provide the means to remove the single exhaust of the 85/86 and replace it with a true dual exhaust.
This exhaust will fit under an OB too. The only piece you would have to fab is the x or y pipe to connect to it.
I already have a header-x pipe that connects MSDS headers to this dual exhaust. I have wanted to make a header-x pipe to connect MSDS headers on a 16v to this exhaust too, but have never had the car or customer to work with. It sure could be done.

/me looks around for Jimmi, cause I can not play guitar left-handed backward and just as white as the next guy
DOH, I did not realize that from the rest of your original post.
So now that I have your attention, will the SS manifolds from an 87 work on an OB?

will the SS manifolds from an 87 work on an OB?
work on the 16v cars?", the answer is no. The headers for the 16v heads terminate at a different location than the headers for the 32v heads. Hence, the Header-X for the 32v heads do not line up with the 16v headers.

Great work, btw.

Just wondering, but why no mandrel bends?
The "mandrel" of a mandrel bending machine is about 16" to 20" across. This means, if you need to place two bends in close proximity with each other, you cannot get them done at the same time on a mandrel bending machine. The mandrel is too large to get close to the curve for the second bend.
The solution is either use ram bending in those locations (which can chain bends much closer together) or cut and weld the mandrel bent tubes together one-at-a-time. This adds a considerable amnount of cost.
Here is a photo of the later - where each bend is mandrel bent, requiring multiple welds. The labor being the highest cost in producing a part, this adds a lot of cost to the piece.

Carl,
Are these the ones to order for the 86.5's?
The retail price of these new, better, dual exhausts will be $849 for the 1987-95 928 (RMB not included)

Darien - the "86.5" can go either way, I want to make sure I get it right for you.
Look under your car. If you see two intermediate mufflers and two pipes, one on each side of the torque tube, your 86.5 has the 87-and-up exhaust.
If you see 2 pipes an inch apart from each other and on the same side of the torque tube, and just one intermediate muffler, then you have the 85-86 exhaust.
Order accordingly.
If you want the $100 discount, order by phone instead of through the website so we can identify you as a Rennlister and give you the $100 discount.
Again, we will only take 50% with your order. Balance due the day we ship.

are these 2/25" or 2.5" pipes?
US material, so they will be able to use the 2.25" RMB units that are currently available for the 928.
If you think about it - it would make no sense whatsever for these to be 2.5" only to get necked down to 2.25 in the last 3 feet going into the RMB. The RMB is not available in any other tube size.
Our HP and torque improvements are made by having lower-resistance resonators than stock, and by maintaining our tubing diamter better than stock, and the slight increase in tube size from 55mm to 2.25"

Hey Carl - that exhaust set up looks suh-weet!
I am a new 91 928 S4 owner, Kiesan was PO. The car already has the X-pipe and the RMB. Does this system bolt up to those components out of the box or is there some fab work needed? I may be very interested as I will ulitmately be bringing the car to Hawaii where it is of great benefit to have SS.
Thanks for a great looking/performing product - Dan

Dan, our dual exhaust will drop in place between your current X-Pipe and RMB. It was designed with those parts in mind.
Ricer, cats do a lot of muffling (as I am sure you have already figured out). I have the setup you describe on my 91 GT. Headers, header-X, no cats, this dual exhaust, and an RMB. We can talk over it inside the car, and you can listen to the stereo. But when I give her the go juice, she barks pretty loud.
Keep in mind that is almost removing everything, all that is left is two flow-thorugh resonators. No cats, no mufflers.
