A lot of these wings havent had proper S4 bolt hole spacing.

I actually have a slightly beatup one in my garage right now. It is in need of repair.

However that said, if you wish to purchase one, one of our venders does carry this wing.

The wing I have in my garage is not from these guys, I got it before they were around. Therefor I cannot comment about fit, quality, etc.

The wing shown in Nadine's photo is not the same as the 928 Motorsports GTR wing. The one on Nadine's 928 could be from Jacquemond as Joey posted, or maybe from Strosek.

That said, I had the GTR wing on my 1986.5 track car and it really looks nice on the 928. Urban legend has it this wing was an actual design study by Porsche for the 928 but they decided not to go with it. AIR in California obtained the rights and makes them. They are reminiscent of the current 996 GT2 wing which is a bit more angular but has the same general shape.

Maybe Jim B. or Nicole has a bit more history on the GTR wing and how it came to be.

Cheers,
Constantine

Constantine,

You are correct (as usual), but I personally find that the AIR S-5 Wing is still being called, and now even sold as the "GTR" wing, totally hilarious.

I was selling the AIR stuff over 10 years ago, as a matter of fact I sold the wing you mention on your ex-racer to Tim Westby originally.

What I find so hilarious is that when I first started selling Dan's stuff I thought the name S-5 was stupid so I called it the GTR Wing on my website and always sold and promoted it as such. Too funny that it is still know by that name 10 plus years later! I actually find it flattering and don't have a problem with it at all.

If you go to Dan's website you will see it is still sold as the S-5 wing, as it has always been. http://www.americaninternationalraci...259246&page=87

Even funnier, I just remembered my conversation with Dan about calling it that. He said something like I don't care what you call it, just sell them... I did!

Thanks for the laugh and flashback this morning

See ya in June,

This looks most like a Strosek wing from that photo.

I just got a quote - a one off build I assume...

$1100 + 250 shipping (ands no its highly unlikely one will just show up on ebay)

The angle that the pic was taken makes it look like its not the GTR 0r GT-5 wing. Is it possible to get a side quarter view?

I have two of the GT-5 wings. One is on my widebody and it looks awesome. It is one of the best, if not the best looking aftermarket wings available for the 928. The bolt spacing is less than optimal IMHO.

That wing looks great! I am interested in getting a second, stiff-non-flexing, paintable, fiberglass wing but it seems everyone who has purcahsed one of these aftermarket types complain about poor to very poor bolt spacing. Why? What is it the problem with the manufacturing getting it right? Why hasn't someone redone their molds to make it correct?

I should have indicated I have a S4 and I am looking for a wing with the same dimensions and mounting locations as stock. Who makes the best, stong, wing with proper bolt spacing? I don't mind the extra work of properly prepping it before paint.

Hi DR!

Yep, remember that Tim W. bought the wing from y'all and I even have the receipts to prove it.

I didn't know if you were still selling it so my apologies!

Hope to be there in June!

No worries about us selling them, we stopped many, many years ago. While Dan makes a quality product, most owners expected a perfect fit and finish body part out of the box. Back when I was selling them the average owner didn't understand these were "kit" parts that require finishing by a qualified body shop. Most had gotten spoiled with the factory like high volume manufactured parts like they can buy for a Mustang etc..

Due to all the complaints we stopped selling them, wasn't worth the hassle and negative impact to my company.

Is AIR still making the wide body kits? I would really like to get these rear flares and door caps and at only $1050 seems pretty cheap. Might be 1987 prices on the web site, they seem almost too cheap. About $2700 for the whole kit if you skip the rear bumper. You can't touch a J-mond kit for under $6K plus shipping from France.

I would think so, Carl can probably hook you up and get you a better deal than directly from AIR.

Here is a pic of the first full kit we sold back in 98. It was installed by a body shop.
