Transmission pan drop - Mike Rowe's dirty jobs?

I have power washed the bottom of my '78 for a few hours now getting junk off of it. A lesson I learned, carefully check the bottom of the engine for wires and connectors that come loose (or apart) after you get done, especially around the alternator.

Tim has a good point. Spend a few minutes with the plastic bags, covering the business end of the starter and the rear of the alternator. The starter will need to come out when you get ready to drop the pan, so it's not too big a chore to hand-clean it on the bench. Oil pressure sender is another spot that probably deserves a little baggie protection.

Like Wally, I spread out several layers of newspaper to catch the drips. But ATF is actually pretty good for cleaning the floor.
