Hey everyone,

I'm going with some Innovate products to monitor AFR/RPMs and a few other things and I did some searches. Seems there was a group buy just over two years ago on some Innovate products.>>Louie's Innovate group buy thread from 1/2007

How are those things working out? How many people are still using them?

There were a few questions raised at the time and suggestions made, I'm curious how they worked out as well, they include:

Calibration: Apparently the manufacturer recommends recalibration in 'free air' of the WB O2 sensor but a few people had other suggestions. Is this an issue for anyone?

Monitor two banks and get AFR for each cylinder? Louie said he thought you might be able to use two WB O2 sensors, (one for each bank) and by timing the signal with the #1TDC signal (set to 'instantaneous' instead of 'average' setting) you might be able to log the AFR of each cylinder. Does anyone know if that worked?

Mike, no group buy for me, but have been using the LC-1 WBO2 setup and the LMA-3 aux box for data logging for a couple of years with good results.

Free air calibration, once a year, no big deal. You could just pull the fuel pump fuse and spin the motor, or just unplug and pull the WBO2 sensor.

As for getting the individual cylinder A/F, the exhaust is mixed in the collector before the O2 sensor. I can't see how accurate it could be, but Louie has much more knowledge about this stuff than me. I have seen a 8 WBO2 setup for gathering that info on the 928 (Todd in GB).

Also have the LC-1. Easy to use, no problems at all, once-a-year calibration. Looking to add more ports for sensors later this year (hopefully).

Only downside is my new laptop doesn't have a serial port on it so I need to go get a converter cable.

The output of an LC-1 is too heavily filtered to see individual cylinder misfire or A/F ratio. They work ok, but are about the worst of all the widebands out there.

I gave up on mine, it must have been the placement of the o2 sensor or something, but after the 6th one I took it out.
Others I know love it and when it worked it worked very well for me.

LM-1, XD 16 gauge and a LMA-3.

It does not look like you can data log with that unit?????

I recomend and supply Techedge products like http://wbo2.com/2j/default.htm for a basic device. They have a unit for every price range.

I'm using a LC-1, and SSI-4, but I missed the group buy, if there was one.

I really hate wiring, so I made bridges for the LH and EZF to collect the signals. (Connectors are from Merc CIS-E ECUs/harnesses.) (LH2²/EZF pinouts.)

I looked at all the options (and I mean ALL) last year and the most cost effective solution I could come up with that had all the features I wanted was the TechEdge 2J1 w/ LA1 display. It does data logging including RPM (plus two user inputs) and the display looks good and is super configurable. It has four views that can be custom configured to display anything you want. You can even have the display do triggering with a little extra work. I got all this for just over $360 shipped.

Ken, that's awesome! That's the kind of thing I wanted to do with mine. So you've just confirmed that I won't have to isolate anything with relays I guess (was wondering if the Innovate stuff would introduce voltage and cause LH/EZ issues). That's cool.

So, when are those going to be available for distribution??? How about some part numbers and a good place to find them?

What are you taking off of there?

RPM, Injector pulse? Idle/WOT?

The SSI-4 only has four inputs, but I found that's gives you a pretty good picture, combined with the LC-1. For most signals I found that you can just hook up the signal to the positive input on the SSI-4, no need for a ground.

Most of the time I connect the following:

Power/Ground
RPM
Injector duty 0-100%
Load 0~200Hz
Speedo 0-?00Hz

I wired most everything off of the connector, but don't use them all. I found that the MAF voltage isn't very telling, but the load signal - pin 24, which is a combination of MAF and rpm, is very useful. I logged the duty cycle of the IAC pins to see how they worked. I put in a wire to the fuel pump relay trigger pin. This makes it easy to run the pump by just grounding the wire, without having to jumper the relay.

I couldn't get the SSI-4 speedo function to work, but I found I could read the signal at the box at twice the rate of what I put in the Logworks dial, IE halving the Hz, and it kinda matches the actual road speed in miles. (I forget the particulars, right now.)

I haven't had time to log the EZF much at all, yet.
