Doc,

When I had the engine out I went ahead and painted the complete front latch area and most of the engine bay. (using the 2 step base and clear coat) It really came out better that I thought since it had been over 20 years since I had a spray gun in my hand.

As for painting the wing, could you give me an idea of the prep work involved. What is the wing made of?

I think that would really be a good look for this car!

The wing is hard plastic, similar to the bumper material. You would use a paint with a flex agent in it. My red wing is painted, and they use the same process as a bumper. It's not hard to do, but you can't use a rattle can. Your engine bay looks very nice.

I don't think that the mods would appreciate the new name you gave her.

Pink Taco is not really 'new rennlist' politically correct.

Even though the engine bay is a smaller job, I went all out and got a gravity feed spray gun, and a dryer/filter for my compressor.

Good info on the flex agent, I also need to spray a new front bumper I have now had hanging in the garage for 6 months . Maybe I will think about both at the same time.

Thanks for the info.

Well, I've decided to make my own cassirot. I'm gonna find a donor car that needs paint, and bite the bullet. I wonder what the cassirot base coat is gonna cost. Gulp. Might do some other mods while I'm at it, maybe big reds, exhaust, good stereo, and some kind of fancy wheels.

I have had great success painting all kinds of difficult flexible plastics using Bull Dog Bond Flex Tie-Coat. It is fairly inexpensive and works well with any base/clearcoat.

It is an adhesion promoter, flex agent, and tie-coat. It adds flex to paint and can tie metal to plastic. Provides adhesion to metals, rubber, fiberglass, and all type plastics including TPO and polypropylene.

Make sure the surface is well cleaned & degreased, shoot Bull Dog, then paint.

The only thing I use on those horrible aftermarket bumper covers they sell for regular cars these days.

Doc if you need some cash to help fund this project call me!
