come to think of it I had a huge smoke event after 10 minutes of hard run followed by immediate coasting to 5 mph and at the end of the coasting the car just poured out grey smoke. Never done it since but I have never coasted from 120 to 5 mph again. That sounds like what others have been talking about also.
Maybe it being a auto prevents hard decelleration cause if it was a 5 speed I would definately be harder on the decel.

My '94 GTS 5 spd is a garage queen with 105K on her. I just put a quart in last night after only 200 miles... the worst yet. However, my experience is that the more you drive her, the less she burns.
