Default Notes to Old Sharky!

I've been AWOL from this forum for the longest time...but I can report good things for 928 press are in the future...meanwhile...a bit of old ownership harrasment from the DOC! Jesus..its not like I didn't give Bob who in return (after a nice brake job) gave her a turn key car while everyone else was scared to buy the beast from me

Turned out to be a pretty nice car eh! Told YA!

Gotta luv the doc! She actually bought me lunch the other day the fish was bad!

Without digging up the old file my last nights notes to docs main-tain guy.

Confirm your last belt and cam check. Believe Bob in Atlanta completed a full change of those components.
Torque Tube: Must check this every two years…personally…If I had a garage I’d be checking it annually which means yearly or…once a year for those challenged!

Anti-coolant: Remember this is the reason Sharky had his engine pulled and gone through…previous two owners (Surgeons !!!) did not follow proper coolant changes and the head gaskets corroded. Yours truly paid for that…along with new motor mounts, oil pan gaskets and upper engine gaskets.

Vacuum hoses: Most important…those have NOT been changed since new 1988…many at the tips where they connect to important inlets/outlets are brittle…they’re ok until they are disturbed…which can be a quick stop to a nice cruise on a lone road. Keep an eye on them…personally…I’d pick a time and replace ALL of them at once…and log that in your maintenance book. The 928 is heavy dependent on vacuum hoses and I wouldn’t mess with that much.

Computer: Sharky has a new one…for a zillion dollars I’ll sell you his old not working one!!! I’m thinking of making it into a wine coaster!
I was thinking about replacing his hood foam…but I would keep the original foam in storage.

Muffler…I have his old muffle in storage…its yours at the price of FedEx. Nice to have all OEM around. Sharky will one day be the ultimate prize.
Keep the maintenance book stamped…there’s nostalgia in that now…before it was a warranty thing. Most important in building the next Monet of Porsche!

Brake fluid…every two years…always change between colors to keep track when bleeding. Check w/Bob on the last change. I forwarded him my previous maintenance info.

Track the 4-wheel alignment with records…ALWAYS keep ALL paper work from alignment shops.

PS…there’s two small interior dashboard cracks on the front dashboard that need tender loving care…never let the car sit in the sun PERIOD without a windshield cover…you’d be amazed how quick one day will screw 15 years of care. Personally…I’d get the damn front dash covered in LEATHER BABY! At least crack the sunroof.

Rear cargo side bolsters….honestly I’m not a fan of replacing those $2200 each side covers…Use leather all on them…or…call Germany and have them kill a cow and ship you the new leather!

As I wake up in the middle of the night with other haunting thoughts I’ll pass them onto you. Until then...I have moose to chase down and bears to luv

Long live the soon to be most national 928 project to ever live!!!

Well, Tim, you have been missed - emoticons just aren't the same without you!
But you are like a brother - airing the family 'dirty laundry', you know...

Care to elucidate about the 'good press?'
meanwhile...a bit of old ownership harrasment from the DOC! Jesus..its not like I didn't give Bob who in return (after a nice brake job) gave her a turn key car while everyone else was scared to buy the beast from me
Harassment, eh? (Wait 'til I tell Jose!) I prefer to refer to it as a 'delicioso Sushi dinner!' And, thanks again!
Turned out to be a pretty nice car eh! Told YA!
Hey - I listened! And I learned (a lot!) (And even a bit about sharks, too!)
And yet, I never, ever, considered SHARKY for myself!
Once I met SHARKY, though - it confirmed all I had learned over the, uh, few previous emails and such.
I bought SHARKY as soon as I could . . . and I'm still lovin' him!

Gotta luv the doc! She actually bought me lunch the other day the fish was bad!
'Bad?' Hey, Bro, there's just so much a Doc can do... but, FWIW - my peppercorn tuna was sumptuous!

Let me see if I can summarize:

Belts, tube, coolant and lube. . .
Brain and muff - you've got the stuff!
(Now that's just funny right there!) I'll 'get right on it,' Chief!
PS…there’s two small interior dashboard cracks on the front dashboard that need tender loving care…never let the car sit in the sun PERIOD without a windshield cover…you’d be amazed how quick one day will screw 15 years of care. Leather - better, protect from weather. . .

You know where to find me!

Soon, perhaps . . . I do believe!

Thankful for your friendship, Tim . . . and for one really superbly maintained SHARKY!

~Your PITA Critic... and OK, Peep! (Someday, there'll be...more!)

Long live the Sharks!

Doc, SHARKY & RSKY BIZ
