Tweeters In Doors

Tweeters In Doors
Well I am planning on redoing the stereo this summer, this wasn't really planned but Circuit City going out of business sped this project up. Anyway, I have replacements for all of the speakers except the tweeters in the doors. I really want to just remove them and forget about it. However this leave a nice hole in the door cover that needs to be covered. So I was thinking about getting some Porsche hub covers and fitting them to the doors. These will have the Porsche crest and may not look half bad, what do you think? Not sure if they will fit and may need to be shaved some. Anyone else have any ideas?

You could fit a pair of new tweeters in there, I replaced the factory ones with tweeters from Clarion, you can actually glue them in the original factory housing.

I found some sweet Infinity components (mid-bass & tweeters) on sale at my local stereo shop. Did the same as Hans and everything is great!
And yes those are Eclipse covers on the mid-bass, they looked closer to the OEM than the Infinity covers! Most shops will have a box of cover that don't get used, just ask!

You got me thinking since I still have the stock speaker in my car and they don't really sound that great.
The tweeters are supposed to be 3.5", the Mids 4" and the rear aren't listed but the best I can come up with are 5.25". With those dimensions I'm looking at Infinity reference 5020cs for the front & Infinity Reference 5022i for the rear. Since I'm thinking of adding a 10-12" Sub to the Tire Well, I'm looking at the Blaupunkt THA555Pnp 5 channel amp. I wanted to take all the Guess work out of this install. I know I'll have to make a trim ring for the front Mid but that should be it.

I just put a set of mb quartz 210 series componets. Sound awesome and well worth the money!
I used factory MB mounts and grills for midrange, on tweeter I knocked factory tweeter out of housing and used a holesaw to cut the center out and mounted the new tweeter in it. It comes with a clip to mount it into the factory housing. And the factory tweeter grill will cover it.
If you want a pic I can get you one later this week.

I am going to be using Polk audio db series speakers for all the factory locations minus the front tweeters. I will also be using a 10" sub. So I am either going to leave them in (unconnected) and try and find some factory covers or will try the hub cover idea.
The reason is that I will already have a tweeter in the cover for the larger door speakers and don't want another set of tweeters for the door. I still might see what i can come up with.
