Fifty years ago. Modified to 750cc, about 80 horses, quicker than the Kawasaki H2 Mach IV Triple.
Custom fuel tank 36 liters made by Hoske. Sports motorcycle fairing by Gläser.
I regret I did not keep the bike.

Me and my 1977 HD XLCR in 1981

Stroked by a HD drag bike builder when we lived in Birmingham, AL.

George had to re-gear the electric starter so it would overcome the compression to start. Ran on racing fuel.

In all my years I have never driven anything that came close to that bike.

It was a rocket. Sold and missed.

Kevin, I bought one on my 16th birthday. The HD purists hated it because it was a sportbike, the sportbike guys hated it because it was a Harley.

Good topic.

This is my favorite ride by far. A Honda CX500 Turbo, only made in '82. Liquid cooled 497cc, 4 valve per cylinder pushrod v-twin. Sequential EFI using a 3 map self diagnosing Denso ECU. 19.3 PSI boost. Absolute Jeykll & Hyde beast and the most dangerous bike I've ever owned.
Read about the bike in my dad's Popular Science magazine when I was 11 years old and my favorite quote was them calling it a rolling tech lab.
I bought it 20 years ago with 7K miles from the original owner.

I especially love what's underneath the bodywork!

This is my '83 CX650 Turbo. Also a one year only production bike and extremely rare. Looks the same as the 500 but is completely different and shares next to no parts.
673cc, 16.7 PSI (but higher engine compression) and significantly lighter than the 500. Very very fast with no noticeable lag, yet nowhere near as fun as the 500. I may be selling it this spring.

My daily ride and long distance tourer is a Hayabusa. It's one of those vehicles that actually can outrun a Motorola Bought it new and it's pushing about 30K miles now. Considered trading in a new gen 3 until I saw one in person a few months ago. They were born in a wind tunnel in 1999, but I highly doubt Suzuki spent one minute on aerodynamics with the latest generation.

Nice bikes! I've always wanted the Honda Turbo, but have never rode one so I don't have a good feel for how it behaves.

Here's my '73 R60 short wheelbase...

Have had too many over the years to count. The BMW and Honda plus honda being restored all that's left. Also a pic of some of my memorable ones.

Here's two I rescued from neglected storage the past two years. The Kawi 1978 was in neglect for 25 years the Norton in shed storage for at least that much. All went to happy new owners.
