Default Ok...here's my "howdy"

Since I got flamed, welcomed, ripped, and supported over my first post, I guess I should introduce myself. I know...going about it a bit backwards. But, if I was going to be logical about every aspect of my life, I wouldn't have purchase a 928 (acutally bought it on 9/28/07).
Located in Green Bay (ok...De Pere, which is right next door) with an '85 928, Prussian Blue exterior., Red/black interior, auto. She needs some tweaking, but not bad overall. Getting rid of the "rough running" and "transmission lurching" gremlins this winter before driving season.
Been lurking on Rennlist for a little over a year. You guys (and girls) have been a TREMENDOUS help. If it wasn't for you, I'd still be in tears trying to figure out this damn car. So, howdy and thank your for your expertise, knowledge, and, on occasion, humor.

Mark

Where did you buy this car? How long have you owned it?

If you ever thought a white Audi Coupe was chasing you down, that was me
I've seen you around town (not in a while, last summer assuming the same car).

The Green Bay Wrecking Crew is planning a few spring 928 related gatherings if you are interested.

Thanks for the welcomes! I bought the car from a private seller in Waukesha...Sept. 28, '07 (gotta love the date I bought it...very easy to remember). It's possible you've seen it around town. She went into storage last November, had it out once since then to get it back home to start working on the ISV and Vaccuum issue.
You must have been hiding the Audi in my blind spot.
One thing I noticed about these cars. Everyone says "Oh, a Porsche? Must be a chick-magnet?" Nope...it's a guy magnet. Most women that see it don't even know what it is. The most positive reaction is usually "ooohhh...that's a pretty color!"

Welcome

What do you mean on occasion? Are we not funny all the time?

Humorous on occasion. Funny? That's all the time. The question is, funny-ha ha or funny-strange?

Welcome, Mark.

You have a big 928 cheesehead support group in GB - take advantage of it.

Nice 4th post. Maybe you could post a smaller picture of your car. It is hard to see on my 4 year old cell phone.

Ther is a great crew in the GB area.

Maybe we can get together some time and compare stories about what we did, need to do, or maybe just wish we had the time and money to do.

Thumbs up 9-28-07, a special day

Wow, what a coincidence! 9-28-07 was the first day my 88 S4 broke down, while driving it home from Minneapolis after buying it on the 27th !! I remember it well, I was all the way down to almost Rockford IL on I-90 when it would just not go anymore. A very helpful IL State trooper and a FANTASTIC tow operator safely conveyed us to the Porsche dealer in Rockford, we made arrangements with InterCity to transport back here to VA. and I took a bus to O'Hare and flew the 'friendly skies' to wait for delivery in early Oct. I look back fondly on 9-28-07 and realize how much that taught me about the nature of my journey into 928 Land. I did not know it at the time, the bumpy concrete highways in Wisconsin worked loose all the built up gunk in the trans lines and cooler and clogged the trans filter, also I was not happy with how the brakes felt..air in lines...bubbling bleeder on top of master ..Once home all of these things were corrected after I learned what to look for and all is well, I am in the middle of an intake refresh, courage provided by Dwayne's thread, and am waiting for gaskets and such from Tom at 928 Intl. If I get all of my Projects done, I will, I am going on up to Summit Point Raceway in early April for a PCA High Perf Driving Course . What a journey, so far, from tow truck to race course ..wonder what will happen next !!!
