Porsche 928 Mat Fastening Kit
I found this on ebay. Is it for real? How does it work?

Those look fussy enough to be factory bits. Just for fun I downloaded the Tequipment pdf from Porsche (https://techinfo.porsche.com/techinf...EQ_KATALOG.pdf)
Sure enough, to go with the factory floor mats (000.043.154.10) there is a set of 'fastening parts' (000.043.202.80) that in the PET drawing look like the ones in the auction. I recently bought a set of black factory mats from Afshin, but they don't have any holes or pins or anything in them. I'll let you know how they work.

My '89 S4 has them - there are rounded-oblong holes in the factory mats (with Porsche lettering on them) that the plastic bit fits through. The tops of the plastic parts rotate 90 degrees to lock down the mat.
The other end fits on the seat rail and is held in place by the front heax-head bolts.
