Default Fuel cap repair

Im sure Ive seen a thread on taking the cap to bits because mine spins too easily, but Ive looked and I cant find it, can anyone remember where it is or provide a link.

As soon as Search is back up,do one. Alan and I have done several. If the cap spins (locked?, cant be tightened?) that would be an unusual failure mode for the pawl. Mostly the pawl breaks and the cap cannot be locked, ie made to spin without unscrewing so nobody can get into your tank. This mode means you can open the cap and fill the tank, so its a safe mode. Alan has some steel pawls I made, so this problem can be fixed.More info on what cap does would help.

This might sound kind of mickey but it's worked for me on a couple of cars, no downside.
I found some vacuum line that was slightly bigger than the clearance between the inner and outer pieces. You just pack it into the gap all the way around the circumference, done.
