Spare is stored in my Porsche parts room. Always carry a cell phone and AAA card.

Mine did not come with a spare tire when I purchased it a few years back the PO decided that the well would be an excelent locatation for the amps for the stereo. Having had a few tires in the past I decided to redo the stereo system so that I could have the spare tire again.

Mine is there, but I don't have a compressor to inflate it. Sort of a useless anchor right now, but, like Dr. Bob, I don't want it taking up what little space I have left in the garage.

Mine is in the car. Coming home from the last Dyno Day here in Atlanta, I bent a wheel enough that the tire suddenly started losing air on the interstate. Hit the exit when the car started handling funny, found the problem, changed the tire, used the gas station pump because it was faster, and was on my way in fifteen minutes.

Mine will stay in the car...

I kept the spare in my former '86 for 8 years. I had to use it once, but my wheel lock key was at home so it really didn't matter at that point whether the spare was in the car or at home.

I still have mine in the car but if I did get a flat, I'd call AAA first. One day when I have some time, I'll inflate it and see if it actually holds air.

I recently upgraded to AAA 200 mile towing which I believe only works within 200 miles of home but that's a 4 hour from home radius.

Mine hasn't been in the car since we got it. Never needed it, either.

I really like that leather cover that chains the tire to the cargo net hooks though. Fabulous idea.

Which of the leather gurus did that for you, Chaad?

Nope - many new cars no longer come with spares, in favor of run flat goo.

That reminds me, I need to buy some run flat goo

Isn't that the new Porsche prescription for all new cars now? Fix'a'flat? The new cars don't even bother with spares anymore. "Too much added weight."

10 years ago, I attempted to use the spare once, soon as I discovered how useless the friggin thing is, it has been out of the car ever since. I keep a can of fix-a-flat, AND a subwoofer there now.

How do you stop luggage from damaging the subwoofer?
