Upgraded Valve Cover Bolts - 86.5
I dropped my car off with MrMerlin today to help me out with leaking valve covers. I was under the impression that the 86.5 has the old bolt with a stand loctited to the head. However, we found my car has the newer S4 type bolts.
So, does anyone else have experience with the 86.5 and the types of bolts that hold the valve covers on? I am curious if this is typical or if it means my valve covers have been off before?
Thanks, Matt

I had one of the valve covers off a couple of nights ago - they look like regular hex headed bolts with a flat washer from the outside, but have a similar small threaded section with a shoulder where they go into the heads.
Haven't tried fitting an allen-headed S4 bolt in there, but I've seen posts elsewhere saying they fit.

I just took my 86.5 covers off and I have the later bolts. On the first cover after the first couple of bolts I almost needed to change my shorts... then when I started pulling the longer bolts out I realized I didn't have the shoulder style.
