Default Craiglist 928

http://atlanta.craigslist.org/cto/1027384799.html
I talked to the owner he wasnt where he could look at his service records .
I'm calling back in a couple hours. I know this is an OB so not an interference engine. He said it needs tire(flat spots) from sitting a long time.
A couple of cracks in the dash , otherwise interior is clean .
All electrical wors, ac needs charging.
No leaks.
What else do I need to know?

Timing belt/water pump still needs to be done on schedule, however if it breaks it is not catastrophic. Make sure all electrical works, trans shifts smoothly and no noise in the torque tube.

How do I know if a torque tube is making a noise?

Go for a drive and you will hear it... actually just running the car and revving it and you will hear the TT whine if it is a problem.

"One of the nicest" I just love the idiots that have NO CLUE what they are talking about... Sure the car has set outside for 6 years not running, but it is "one of the nicest 928's out there." BS! You want to see the nicest then check out Kermit, Blue82, Green89GT, or even Michael's '95 GTS with 6k miles on it... THOSE are the nicest 928's! A 65k mile OB is nothing to write home about. At $5k it is probably a great deal, but "one of the nicest out there." GIVE ME A BREAK!

Just got off the phone. He does have records of the tb/wp being changed a few thousand miles ago.
Apparently the po spent alot of money on up keep then sold it to this guy who rarely drives it.
He says the car was stored inside but there are a few paint bubbles(rust) on the rear deck lid.

If the TB is over 5 years old, it needs to be replaced, regardless of mileage. But the 16v engine will survive if it breaks.

I would offer him $3k.

Through the fuzzy pic, I think I see a signal just behing the front wheel, this would indicate it is a euro. Doesn't matter on a 78 though they are the same as the US versions from what I understand.

it is a Euro. turn signal behind front wheel, rear fog light in rear bumper cover, aftermarket side marker lights front and rear. might have gauges written in German, might not have side impact door bars (probably does), engine stamping number should be m28/02.

I love the ad "one of the first 2000 made by hand". Weren't they all made in the same plant, the same way from 78 - 95 or am I missing something?

I think you would be better off running up to Nashville for this one.

1983 928S 5 speed

He's come down to $4500. I'm not lovin it. With the rust on the rear deck and a few other blemishes I will be painting it and 4 new tires right off the bat + who knows what else.
