Default Fuel pressure regulator for 1988?

I've seen a new FPR on eBay, p/n 928 110 198 02.

Looking at PET this is p/n for a 1987. The 88-91s have a different p/n shown, 928 110 198 04.

Does anyone know what the difference is between the superceded part and the newer one? Is the difference sufficiently trivial that the 928 110 198 02 would be ok for my 88 S4?

No problems with my existing FPR (no smell of fuel at vac line, no FP problems) but it is the original one I believe, and I like to replace with new where possible.

Thanks.

The FPR did change between '87 and '88 MYs as the fuel line to the cooler changes.

The '87 has a rubber fuel line which is clamped to the FPR and the '88 has a partial metal fuel line which screws onto the FPR.

Functionally the FPRs are probably the same.

Thanks Malcolm - very complete info as always! Looks like I would be ok with the earlier fpr, especially if I bought Roger's fuel line kit which I believe has rubber line for connection to cooler.
