Default Speedometer intermittent

Pulled the connector in the spare tire area and cleaned it. Crimped the female side a bit. Seemed to help for a bit. Progressively gotten worse.

If you hit the top of the dash it usually starts working.
But will go back out.

Should I pull it out and make sure its plugged in well.

Is on my 84 Auto.

Pull the pod and clean all the connections. Including the grounds - or sell it to me for $500.

Check the rivets on the plastic/foil circuit board for the cluster. They get loose and make intermittent connections...

Brad,
My speedometer does the same thing on all my cars. I thought that was normal. When I put the car into gear and accelerate, the speedometer starts working. When I pull up to a stop sign/stop light, it stops working. Isn't it supposed to do that?

I believe that some people have suggested that soldering rivets on the foil cleared up this problem for them. Good luck.

Maybe check out one of Dwayne's awesome write-ups here.
EDIT-Sorry, my link doesn't seem to be working, the thread is called "Instrument Cluster Repair w/pics (Part II)".

Hope it helps.
