Default 996 widebody/Turbo/ C4S wheels on 928

I just got a response from a ad for a set of 18" turbo twists. He says they fit a wide body 996, Turbo or C4S. I asked him what offset and he said he wasn't sure and told me to come and take a look. I have scoured the net and this site and I can't find a definitive answer. Should I make the 1 hr drive and check them out? The front offset is what I am more worried about. They come with centers and 2 good front Michelins, he said there are some minor marks on them, but I can have them for $500 CDN!

Beware! Widebody 911 wheels are usually a bad offset for the 928. The wider the body, the more likely that the wheels are a lower positive offset. I would venture a guess that the fronts are 50mm, which is not good for the 928 IMO.

Whether or not they are OE or replicas, the front have them same offset. They should work fine. Just verify the fronts have 225 rubber on them, if you plan to use the tires. To fit, just need to set the ride height correctly to eliminate potential rubbing.
If they are OE "hollow-spokes" the rears would be 11" wide and with 295s, would have to do a little flarring. If replicas they are 10" and fit fine, though some like to add spacers to fill out the wheel well.

If they are OE "hollow-spokes" (you can tell by looking at the back), that price is GREAT! If replicas, price is better than fair.

Just verify the offsets on the front, and post it here.

I think these are the real deal as I can see the stamping beside the valve stem and the replicas don't have that. Looks like a 50 offset on the front from the picture, but I will have to go look.

The front offset is 50 and the same for both replica and OE, w/ respect to the fronts.

The replicas also have the stampings on the front side. The only way to know is to look at the back side.

Thanks for the tip I will take a good look.

So the 50 offset front will work, just adjust the suspension to match? I have found 2 offsets online for rear widebody cars; 40 and 65. So with 65's I would use my factory 21 mm spacers and with 40's I would leave them out correct? If I put say 265's on the rear (they need rubber anyway) that should give me enough clearance according to Andrew's calculator.

Hmmm.. I don't thing theyre ET40.

The replicas are 10" wide ET 65, the OE are 11" wide ET45

The 10" with 21mm spacers and 265s will work, 275s will be tight.

The 11" without spacers and 285s should work, and 295s would be really tight.

Ha found a website with pics, show three 928's with et 50 fronts, doesn't look too bad to me. I will just have to be careful with the rear. The black car has crazy wide rears, looks like he rolled the fender!

18 with 50 ET fronts work

18 x 11 rear with 45 ET rear will also work but ITS REAL CLOSE.

The S4 i have now had 11" rears ET45 with 285 tires. They do clear, actually i could probably contribute the rubbing to the ultra low ride height more than anything, at proper ride height they fit without rubbing.

So yeah if its ET 45 rear your good to go

and the price including tires is EXCEPTIONAL!

i dont know did you? Your posts actually seem to be all over the place now that i look. FWIW i responded only to the OP's question. I didnt read all the stuff that came after. Since you asked though, it appears there is still "i think," "should" and other subjective suggestions. I can say for SURE that they will fit an S4 body as the car i currently have had the exact same wheels and they did IN FACT fit.

If i posted and agreed with you, and we state the same thing why are you complaining? I have no clue what you know about these cars. If anything multiple sources confirming fitment should be better for the end user and the OP in this discussion.

Are you actually bitching that I posted to confirm they will fit?

I just talked to the guy, 18 x 8 et 50 with 225 front, 18 x 11 et 45 with 295 rear. Rear tires are toast, one with a blowout. Fronts have a summer left with Michelin PS2's. Solid spoke factory Porsche wheels. He is going to take some pics and e-mail them to me tonight to save me the drive. So put 265's or 275's on the rear and call it a day?

I don't think I was all over the place. OP seemed a little confused as the thread went on, so I tried to help further.

I'm bitching because people tend to post answers that have already been answered.
It would make more sense to reaffirm to the OP by stating that what I wrote was accurate. For instance, +1 to what Jim said.

Instead it just "looks" like you just want everyone to understand that you know too.

If I see that someone has already answered the OP's question appropriately, I do not respond. But that's just me.
