It measures differences in resistance. Two bulbs can work, but if one is older or a different brand with different resistance, the bulb warning may go off.

If the problem is a warning about the lights, there are a few possibilities...

- The Bulb Check unit operates by comparing current draw of pairs of bulbs. This means that if the bulbs are different types; or if there is corrosion in the socket of one or more; or if the ground connections are bad; or if the power connections are bad, then you can get a bulb warning.

- The Bulb Check Unit checks some that you might not think of, such as the license plate lamps and the side marker lamps.

- The Bulb Check Unit has been known to fail.

Problem appears after license plate bulb has broke; after changing for new one warning is still indicating error, but true is that one of the bulbs is lighter than the other; I'll change second one as well tonight; thanks a lot for reply; greetings from poland

The license plate bulbs are not monitored so it isn't that... Schluss is taillights - replace them all (cheap!)
