I want to know too. Last year I bought the hose from 928intl to replace the existing hose and I got 12 or 18" long hose. The receipt says "sold by Meter" and I was charged $22. I called and inquired why I did not receive the full meter and they said I received the correct length. I have not replaced it yet but sounds like what I got won't work.

Its 375mm in length.
I supply it in 500mm lengths.

In 1866, US Congress made an act reading:

"It shall be lawful throughout the United States of America to employ the weights and measures of the metric system; and no contract or dealing, or pleading in any court, shall be deemed invalid or liable to objection because the weights or measures expressed or referred to therein are weights or measures of the metric system."

I guess some people are just too dumb....?

The metric system does have it's advantages, but a 2x4 just doesn't sound right as a 50x101 We switched here in Canada when I was in grade 8 and I've adjusted to KMs, Lts and C, but instead of MM & M I still use inches, feet and yards. Not happy about all the extra tools either

The meter and the nautical mile are both based upon very similar (near identical) concepts. One, however, has our year at its root and so is "360" based rather than base 10. The history is interesting. One 60th of a degree along the equator versus a decimal part of an arc from the equator to the pole, through Paris, natch. Horse a piece on most measures, but I think F for temp is more discriminate.

Are you referring to lumber? A 2x4 is really 1.5"x3.5" which would be 38mm x 89mm. Back home we also use metric system and I can't remember how they refer to lumber. But I doubt they would use MM. Most likely they will use CM :-) and round it up like Americans do. E.g. a 2 x 4 being 4 x 9 cm or 5 x 10 cm.

Funny in England after the switch to metric some stuff stayed imperial. for example, glass thickness was still sold in fractions of inches for a long time & even now the thickness is mostly direct metric equivalents of the fractions of inches - like 13mm. Or standard brick size is 215 × 102.5 × 65mm sounds better as 9 inch * 4 inch *2.5?

The tea was most likely thrown from the Starbord (staaah. boaad) side of all three ships. -in celebration of the event the drivers side was designated to the left side of the car. We were pretty forward thinking back then.

heavy accent on the A and no pronunciation of the R- it is just a place holder here in Boston.
