The Big Track at Willow Springs
Speed Ventures (speedventures.com) has a weekend track event for Feb. 7 & 8; the big track is great for the 928 (as opposed to the Streets of Willow). It's a great bargain at $150/day or $280 for both days. It is just past Lancaster in Roseamond and Speed Ventures is a great organization. (No affiliation; no commissions - I've run with them multiple times at various tracks - always a great experience). Be great to see a contingent of 928 owners on the track; unless you opt for the "Red" group, there is no racing, point bys in Blue and While groups and a great opportunity to get your 928's out on the track (only 9 turns) in a friendly environment. Hope to see you out there. I'll be there both days with the 84 supercharged.

Thanks for the input on Speed Ventures. I'm looking at doing their May 1 event with my dad and trying to get a couple days in myself before then so we're not in the same run group. I doubt I could do the Feb dates though because I'm tentatively planning on heading up to Thunderhill on the 13th.

Thunderhill looks like its a fun track; however, it has lots of turns and sharp vcorners, not the best environment for a "regular" (seriously unmodified) 928, whereas Willow Springs is a big track, 9 turns only and gives the 928 a real chance to "open up" - I have taken all 3 of my 928's to Willow Springs - it is a great opportunity to get your 928 on a track in non-race conditions and see what your car is capable of (far more capable than most drivers....) - I regularly exceed 120 inb turn 8 and on the front and back straights (ge3t blown away by the Vettes and Vipers though) but it is non-racing, thus, if a faster car is behind you, they cannot pass until they receive a point by you (you determine when someone passes and on what side of the car...) - you will get 5 20 or 25 min sessions which is more than enough to tire you out and get a real opportunity to check your car out (my other 2 928's (not the supercharger 84) are mostly stock and I've had a great time on the track) - I have also run and regularly run California Speedway (now Autoclub speedway) the "Roval", Buttonwillow Raceway Park and when I can, Laguna Seca - and while all of the tracks are great, nothing is like the big, openness of Willow Springs, so if you are interested in getting your car on a track in a "safe" environment and working up to your skill set, this is the track to do it on. Price is great and they have instructors on-site who, for a fee, will give you pointers onhow to improve your skiills. Many of the other drivers will let people ride in their passenger seat so you can ride in a Z06, Viper, Lotus, etc... and see how the rest of the world lives (or drives) - anyway, it's not a race it's a high speed driving opportunity in a relatively safe environment. Hope to see more 928's out there as I am usually the only one...

BTW, if you come out to the track and don't want to drive, I'd be happy to take you around in the 84 supercharged 928...I am not the fastest but it will be quite an experience (but if you puke in the car, you have to clean it...) - I p lan on being there both Sat and Sun; the track usually opens up at 8:30 or so....the track charges $10 at the gate per person for entry, but that is the only fee. I have a spare helmet, but if you want to come up and have your own helmet, bring it up (not just for my car but if you want to ride in anyone elses car...) Anyway, hope to see some 928's andh 928 owners up there - Jim, you bringing the Brown bomb up? (do you still have the brown bomb or am I thinking of someone else?)
