Default Aerial

I dont spose any members have or know where to get a replacement aerial for the rear roof mount on my s4. It appears that someone has screwed it off while parked having lunch. I just cant believe it. Narrow minded imbeciles see a nice car and just cant help themselves.
My preference would be a seconhand one as i know i am going to hurt if buying a new unit. Any help would be appreciated.

I got this link a while ago from rennlist.

http://www.locustom.com/antennas.htm

I bought one of their 7 inch mast aerials to replace my cracked original flexy one
(actually I bought the whole Shark Attack II - which is the base plus 7 inch - upon inspection I decided my base was still ok so ended up just screwing the mast onto my original base on the roof)

Shipping was very reasonable - when you choose checkout it calculates international shipping etc. too.

I'm fairly certain that either Roger, Specialist or International have them however you will have to pay for shipping from the US.

Bummer that someone would steal that.

We sell the original Porsche Antenna Roof Top Mast, '89-'95, P/N 928.645.902.00, for $38.15. By the time you add shipping, it might be cheaper to buy it from a local dealer.

Let us know if we can help.

Yes Larry, it does screw into the original base - that's what I ended up doing after deciding the problem with my original antenna was the flex part.

So I now have the base from the "Shark Attack II" sitting in a box somewhere.

Larry,

New ones are available from most european car importers such as VW/Audi (as advised above), but a lot of Holdens are fitted with these types of ariel masts as well. The only difference is that they have a spiral wound wire running up the mast. You can therefore pick up a new one at a dealer.

Next time you are at the supermarket have a look at the cars and you will be surprised at the number of similar types of ariels fitted. Once you have identified the makes of cars try the "wreckers".

You can also try the OPC "Official Prosche Centre" and buy one, but make sure that you have plenty of cash to hand.

Look up the Landsharkoz web site and there are a few 928 parting out people available on their link page. Nick McKenna will most likely have one and will post it on and his prices are very reasonably.

Search for Fuba antennas. They're used on various types of cars, some with the spiral, some without.
Here's one example.

There are some short BMW masts that should work. AM Radio reception starts to get iffy when the mast is really short, but that's not a big issue for most and maybe not an issue at all if you are in a large metro area. I'm tempted to get a short replacement and leave my original in the official spares bin in the garage.

Larry,

During my daily walk I founf 7 different types of cars fitted with our type of ariel/antenna:

Peogoet
VW
Audi
Toyoto Echo & Varis
GMH cars, numerous models
Mini Cooper (BMW)
Volvo

I called in at a GMH parts centre A$40.70 including GST and they will give a Seniors discount.

How is that for service and advice?
