Joey, that sounds pretty cool. Next time I'm in the Valley, I'm gonna buy your dad a beer.

I used that tactic when I "bought my wife" our 911 cab for Xmas. She will tell you that it was her car, but I know I put more miles on it in the 5 yrs we owned it!

2009 Ford Focus S :-)

We paid $13k OTD with zero miles on it and we have zero regrets getting the car. Our Automatic gets 34 mpg on the hwy easily. And while I think Ford could have not put a cheaper interior in it we still like the car for what it it, awesome gas mileage and CHEAP.

Joey,
with your age, unless you have a really good job, get a cyl car that is good on gas and save money instead of pumping it into the gas tank.

I travel a lot and rent a ton of cars.
For the money and HP, I really like the Mazda CX7, VW GTI or Audi A4.
All of the above mentioned are (or can be) Turbo with a 4cyl.
Fun to drive and good on gas..............the Mazda was my fav to drive.

I actually want a CX7 funny you mention it I think its a pretty cool car especially in that icy blue color. They're selling well under MSRP nearby 2.3L Turbo if I'm right

Hey Joey, Sorry to hear you gave your car away--it was nice to see a young person getting into the 928. Sounds like you made a good decision though. With a little luck, maybe you'll find some 928 keys in your stocking in a few years--your dad will have brought the car up to snuff and you'll be in a little bit better position to keep it going...

Last time I was at the local Mercedes Dealership, they had the last un-registered new McLaren Mercedes Coupe in the showroom.

I know the sales manager, and could ask him to make you a good deal on it.

On the Carrera GT forum, there is a thread entitled: "What do you guys do for a living?". Maybe you could glean something from it, FWIW. You may have to search because I haven't noticed any posts lately.

I just bought a new 2008 Civic Si Sedan. Nice 350W sound system, 6-speed manual (quite a breeze to clutch/shift vs a 928), LSD, traction/stability control, comfortable Recaro seats. 197HP 16V 11.0:1 2-liter. Suspension feels to me like my friend's 190E 2.4-16 Cosworth.

Just over $19k and I didn't hit 'em hard. A 2009 can probably be negotiated to just below $20k. A used Si (2007+) can be had for $17k or less with modest mileage.

I know, it's a Civic...but it's a lot of car for under $20k.

I would not buy a Benz made in the past 10 years, almost everyone I've known who has had one (E55, SLK320) had significant issues for cars so young. I was looking at SL500s but glad I started buying 928s instead.
