Power steering heavy, rack only replaced last year?

Do you have a copy of Jim Moorehouse's Technical CD?
If you don't have a copy I would suggest you buy a set. It will be the best money you have spent if you are going to maintain you 928 yourself. You can find Jim's email address by searching this forum.
If you have a copy of the CDs, IIRC, there is a procedure to overhaul the PS pump with pictures. Rodger has the seal kit cheap as he has advised.
If your steering becomes heavy then you have a problem with the "power via pressure" withing the PS circuit, this can be from insufficient fluid being fed into the suction side of the pump causing pump cavitation or insufficient pressure being discharged from the pump by pump bypassing fluid or pressure being bypassed within the steering rack or an air lock within the steering rack or leakage in the piping system or from the steering rack.
You will need to fault find and eliminate each component from being at fault until you find the piece of equipment giving you the trouble. The suggestions made in the previous posts of this thread have given you the the basis of the fault finding procedure.
