checking s MAF on the bench
Hi I have searched about checking MAF's. I could not find any thing about checking a MAF when power is put to pin 2 and 4 I would think that you should be able to use a volt meter to check voltage out put. Is this possible? I have checked my MAF using all of the JDS steps excect for checking voltage at the LH connector. I would rather check the MAF on the bench with voltage. Is this possible.
thanks

I just went through this recently and learned from Kevin at Injection Labs that in order to be able to guage at least the platinum wire, you would need to detect to 40 mV which at least according to him would be impossible without a bench and more than a mutlmeter. He'll test for a free so you'd only be out shipping best case plus experience he has. There was at least one internal component that was borderline and in the end I decided for the rebuild he did for $175. Hope this helps..
Check out with Nick McKenna in Melbourne, he is my agent in Oz for rebuilt MAFs.

I am in the USA south shore of MA. Wildwestsydney is my dogs name she is a Austrailian cattle dog. I would just likw to know if it is possible to power the MAF on the bench and check output voltage.

Ok :-)
Of course you can power a MAF with a 12v power supl; on the bench, but it won't tell you anything except that is has some kind of output voltage. To test properly you need a calibrated rate of airflow through the MAF, and a calibration standard.
You have to measure within +/-2% accuracy to determine whether a MAF is OK or not in a 928.
