Weird clicking/buzzing inside car
Hi guys,
I was driving my '89 S4 Auto today and there is a weird intermittent clicking/buzzing sound coming from the side box, down between the passenger seat and the door. I removed the cover and see the alarm, diagnostic socket, wires for the hatch release and another big control unit with German writing on it. Any ideas what this sound might be? O2 counter? It seems to click/buzz faster at highway speeds. No warning lights have come on and the car is running well. It doesn't seem to be affecting the performance in any way. It is just annoying. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Joe

As Damstorm suggested a window switch could be stuck on. The relay in the ce will click and voltmeter will be low and fluctuate. There usually are 3 units under that cover. Stereo booster, suppressor and cooling fan control. Part # for fan control is 928.618.418.00.

Sound is not coming from the CE panel. Windows are working fine. Volts are reading good. Cooling fans are working. Sound is from inside the cover on the floor between the side of the passenger seat and door threshold. Sound like a sporadic clicking or buzzing, like a stuck relay. What is under there?

Sorry, didn't read your post thoroughly. Could the cooling fan control be the culprit? I did notice that the cooling fans, when on, always shut down when I turn off the engine. Shouldn't they stay on for a while after shutdown? Thanks again.
