Default How long does it take to sell a nice 928?

I think it comes down to who sees it first.
Sorted by longest sale to quickest....

The "day to day sale"
When many of you pull up in a Toyota or a Prius for a look...
Chances are your "The Enthusiast" looking for his 1st 928.....
The Enthusiast looks at the well sorted $8,000 car, finds a few imperfections, takes it for a drive, all the while wondering how much the new paint will cost.... and then tells the owner...
"Wow - thats a nice car, but just not what I was looking for."
The car may have been given another chance at life.
You'll probably go on to find a good deal on eBay for a freshly painted car and end up with a 928 that needs lots of maintanance and begin a love / hate relationship - only to sell the car in a few years and tell others how much money and work they are. You have helped bring down the cost of the cars and will join the long list of PO's that we always talk about.

The "1 hour sale"
When you pull up in a 996TT - Chances are your "The Breaker" - who looks at that $8,000 928 for sale and see's a worn out, beat up, ratty old car. They tell the owner -
"You actually drove this here? Man, your either brave or just plain stupid - this thing shouldn't even be on the streets! Getting it towed will probably cost more then it's worth"
After a hour of beating on the guy, and talking his car down - You'll say "I'll give you $1,500."
Then walk away and call the wrecker - thinking you should be able to get $6,000 in parts. Thank you I don't have to watch you destroy a work of art.
This car just died.

The "15 minute sale"
When you pull up in a sweet old 930 - Your probably "the flipper" - you will do a quick deal and after fixing trivial things, it's still for sale.
Thank you for helping raise the price of the car
Just like I thank the realtor for inflating the value of my house so my taxes went up and my neighbors are in foreclosure.
It would be great if I wanted to sell my house or my car, but I don't yet. Hey - there's a idea

Theres the "Know sale"
When you pull up in a nice 928, hopefully the OB...
Your probably the average "Addict" - why else are you looking for another...
You'll take a look at the car and start telling the owner what's wrong with it, how much it will cost to fix everything, and give him this address as a friendly gesture. You'll tell them what the car is really worth, and make a decent offer. Either he will sell you the car right there, or you'll get turned down because you just talked another 928'r into keeping their car. Either way, when they do sell the car - you'll be the one they call first. You have gained a friend, and brought another into the fold - and the car has a chance

And then, there is the "instant sale"
You know you found them - they are worse then a addict - you found "the collect..aholic"..
You'll know them when they pull up to look in 2 928's. They had to get the family in on it too.
Now it sells quicker then the driver behind you can hit the horn when the light turns green...
They are always looking for excuses to buy them - if the car fits the "must have" list - they snap it up, like they often do with anything and everything within reach - even if it's a spare for the spare for the "must have" list - and they should just plain know better.

Very well said.

It is because of the first three types of fate, that I could never bear to let my 928 go. As an ORIGINAL owner of a pristine 20+ y/o car, I don't get much use out of it more than just looking and admiring the beauty. I really need the extra garage space, but could never live with myself if I knowingly sold it to someone who would just destroy her, part her, or mutilate (mod) her. I guess this is what being a faithful lover is haha.

Let me know if she ever needs some hugs and affection, she can keep her feet in my garage anytime
