Default Another Central Locking question

I can lock and unlock the doors from either the passenger or driver door but I when I press the button on the center console, nothing happens. It used to work many moons ago but it just quit one day.
I checked the two small fuses and they looked fine. Oh, I can only turn off the alarm from the passenger door.

Any suggestions?

Check out the most basic if you haven't already. Pull the side panel of the passenger side and see if you can reach the electrical connector on the back of the central locking button panel. Make sure the connector(s) is pushed on all the way. I've forgotten if there are one or two connections. You may have to lift the alarm button panel out of the central console a bit to check the connections.

Not sure....may or may not be related to the central locking panel issue.

Locking is quite seperate from the alarm on this year - different issues.

central lock button not operating is most likely is a connection issue to the console locking plate - with the ignition on does the locking light illuminate if you lock a door (use the lock tab or turn ****) it should even if the switch doesn't work - if neither works its probably disconnected - there is a seperate plug in the console for this.

Thought I would revive this thread. The central locking button started working on its own and has for several months now. I think someone had mentioned something about syncing between the doors and the module. Not sure but anyway it works now.

I still have the problem where I can only arm/dis-arm my alarm from the Passenger's side. I'm sure this has been discussed to nauseam but can somebody throw me a life line (linky) please. I did the prerequisite search with no results.

Merci

I actually have this same problem in my 86.5. The center lock works when it wants to, but I can only disarm the alarm from the passenger side...either side will arm the alarm, but if I unlock from the driver-side and attempt to crank up the car, the alarm goes off. I then have to hurry out of the car, run around and stick the key in the passenger lock.

Is there a way to keep the power locks and ditch the alarm altogether? I've found that the thing is more trouble than it's worth.
