The typical problem to your symptom is a heater control valve that isn't closing. This can be because of a faulty valve that leaks, or a leakey vacuum system that does't close the valve. The heater valve lives at the rear of the passenger-side cylinder head, connected to that head with a short hose section. Remove the lower air cleaner housing for access. The valve has a small vacuum actuator that should be retracted when the valve is closed. This would be with engine running, AC on, slider to the left (cold). If the valve is not closed, your next search should take you to diagnosing the HVAC vacuum system. If the valve is closing, then you'll want to replace the valve itself.

You may still need to diagnose the setting motor, but only as part of a vacuum system problem.

Hi Dr Bob, thanks for the quick response... uhm... more complex than I thougth snd certainly a level of complexity that I cannot manage on my own. Is the job of checking the valve and eventually replacing it a compelx one? Is it likely to be expensive if done by a mechanic?

If your setting motor is not moving or only moving in one direction its most likely one or more of the transistors on the setting motors circuit board are us, replace all 4, did this on mine, 2 x BC327 and 2 x BC337, cheap and easy fix if you're handy with a soldering iron.

This was the problem on mine along with 2 leaking selenoid valves (Blue and white lines)
