Ryan,

That was my understanding too. Clarkson and Tiff had a disagreement is what I heard and Tiff left and started 5th Gear. Wish it were still on too...LOVE both of those shows!

Tiff was at Top Gear and I think Caterham, Aston Martin V8, Ferrari 348, Honda NSX and 928 GTS clip was in old format Top Gear.

Jeremy Clarkson does his own videos every year where he drives all sorts of cars and usually blows things up. GTS clip I linked is from one of them, not from Top Gear episode. Its from DVD called Heavy Metal IIRR.

i can EASILY see this as being the case.

Tiff IS CLEARLY TOP DOG AT 5th GEAR, just as clarkson is on top gear, i think thye both probably have massive personalities and no doubt clashed.

it would be good if they could come up with a word other then "gear" to describe a car show though.

"Interesting cars meet irrational emotion"
That's great!
Thanks for the link, Nicole. CarLust is definitely bookmarked.

I fondly recall that Tiff video, but didn't see it in any links in this thread. I tried to find it in YouTube, then in Google to no avail.
I remember that I'd seen it on a Latvian Porsche site several years back. This site used to have the most amazing collection of Porsche clips all arranged by model. It's now been revamped - or at least my old link points to a revamped forum, all in Latvian. I can't imagine that the video clip section is gone, it's probably just been moved to a link with the Latvian word for "Movie Clips".
Anyway, I found out that I'd saved this clip.
I put it up on my Rennlist Member site. It's in .avi format and may not be viewable w/Windows Media Player without the DivX codec (free).
It can be downloaded by clicking here.
It's 10mb or so, so I'll probably take it off after a couple of months to get some space back.

I was kinda under the impression that fifth gear was created when tiff left top gear, but i really have no idea
Top Gear was done for ages starting from late seventies. Clarkson and Tiff were both in it but Clarkson left few years before it ended. When it was killed off most of the cast at the time including Tiff moved away from BBC to make Fifth Gear. Little after that Clarkson and current Top Gear producers came up with different more entertaining concept for it and started over with different presenters other than Clarkson himself.

Tiff says something like three year old Toyota Supra in that video. That Supras plate begins with S. This means it was first registered between August 1998 and February 1999. This puts shows original airing date somewhere in 2001-3. Original format Top Gear stopped in 2001 and 5th Gear as it was called then started in 2002 so its possible it was done at last season of Top Gear or first or second season of 5th gear.

What I find interesting, is that in the video from the article (which is enthusiastically and well written btw), the 4 valve configuration demonstration illustration (lol) shows the spark plug off to the side. HUH?!?! This is supposed to be a Porsche video...uhhh right? The whole concept is having the fire in the middle. Strange.

Good find! That puts Tiff and Jeremy on the same page! Both really like the GTS and both note that by today's standards the only thing it lacks is about 50 - 100 HP to really run with the likes of the most current of supercars!
