Props from Prescott...
Our Connecticut Valley Regional PCA annual dinner was last night, and PCA national President Prescott Kelly was the guest speaker (he's from CVR). He did a nice presentation about Porsche literature & toy collectibles (he has an amazing knowledge of early P-cars! No wonder he's prez!).
(Incidentally, I met a guy with a beautiful 1990 S4 - silver & black with Design 90 wheels, and the paint looked like the car just rolled out of the factory. Said he bought it from some guy in Ohio with 25k on the clock.)
Anyway, the meeting ended and I rushed out to the parking lot to listen to all the wonderful engines lighting up. Ahhh... my favorite part of every PCA meeting!
It's time for me to go, so I get in the shark, start her up, and make my way around the parking lot to leave. Mr. Kelly was just about to get into his car when he hears & sees me rolling past. He waved me down to stop. Huh?
I roll down the window, and after the usual barb about the engine being at the wrong end (those 911 guys just cannot help themselves, I've realized), he compliments my 928! He said he loved seeing 928's in such great shape, and asked what year it was. I wanted to quiz him to see if he could tell me, but it was too dark for games like that. "It's an '89 GT" and I pointed out the odometer (just under 34,500) and his eyes lit up. He said that these low-milers (heh - sorry to speak his name!) are becoming collector cars, and are appreciating in value.
I almost peed myself. It's nice to get props for your shark from someone like that.
Just thought I'd share...

Funny how good it feels when someone, a knowledgeable someone or even just an anonymous person on the street, recognizes our cars for what they are, isn't it? That sensation hasn't faded for me one little bit in the 6+ years we've owned our sharks.
Nice story. Thanks for sharing!
