Door wiring
Hi guys,
been tipping away getting jobs done bit by bit on my 79 928. My main problems in making progress at the moment is working out what particular wiring is for, and where other wires go, like a ground hanging from the ground point in the drivers footwell.
Spent a while today replacing the original tattered drivers seat with a leather seat. Much more comfortable than the original one so time well spent. Learned a good tip for anyone replacing their seat - back bolts are much more accessible if you raise the seat up full!! I had one bolt left to put back in when I discovered that, doh!!!
Quick bit of background... the PO was intending to use the car as a track car, so wasn't very careful with the wiring, e.g. wiring to the mirror was cut, and when I took off the door card none of the wires were connected up.
Ok, my question on the door wiring... I'm down to 2 pairs of wires to find a home for. The first you can see on the right side of this picture:
It's about the right area for the speaker, but looks more like electrical wire than speaker wire. One blue/white the other brown/white. Anyone know what it might be for?
The other pair of wires I need to find a home for are near the back of the door. There's 3 sets of wires along the top of the door - one for the lock (white connector), one for the electric lock motor (black connector) and another pair that has 2 wires with spade type connections, in a black sleeve. It's this last one I'm short. Does the door usually have a light that comes on at the back of the door when it's open maybe?

Kev, the two wires to the right are defenatly the speaker wire's. the bundle to the far left are for door light- middle cluster ? and yes there is normally a red light that comes on while door is open- if missing you can get one from one of the big three. Hope this helps -Mike

Thanks Mike! so they ARE the speaker cables... colouring threw me off. Don't have a red light at the back of the door so I'll have to go shopping I think. I didn't see a light in the parts katalog but see them on one of the big 3 so that'll do, thanks!
