FS - DR twinscrewed 85
Wow, that was hard to hit the submit button!
First of all, the only reason I’m offering this car for sale is because I have my eye on another 928. I don’t need to sell it for any other reason. If it doesn’t sell, I’m perfectly happy to keep it. I can’t afford both so this one would have to go. I’ve put a ton of money and work into this car and it shows. Ask anyone – this car is extremely well taken care of and has just about everything done.
The most obvious thing – Dave Roberts polished twinscrew supercharger. It’s the only pre ‘87 928 Specialists kit in existence (save Dave’s personally owned 85 Euro). The picture on 928gt.com under the 85/86 twinscrew kit is this car. Every option was chosen.
• Polished supercharger
• Intercooled using the windshield washer reservoir
• DR’s xtreme heat exchanger
• Twinscrew performance fan
• Wide band o2 sensor
• "S4 Style" Fuel Injector Rail Covers w/pre-cut holes for Oil Fill and Fuel Pressure Gauge
• Aftermarket knock alert – for tuning purposes
• A pillar gauge mount with VDO boost and A/F gauge
Add it up on 928 Specialists site and it comes to $10,998 including installation. That doesn’t include all the extra’s like powdercoating. Although it was sharktuned and running 7psi, it has only been tuned for fuel and not spark. John Speake was not finished with the spark side until after my car was completed. I never got around to getting it done so there is a very attainable 50 hp that is left on the table. It dynoed at 378 hp. You should be able to get around 425 hp according to Dave without jacking the boost up.
A head gasket job is being completed by Brad Moyer in North Carolina right now. Brad says it will be done by the end of November. Hopefully he will chime in but everything has been addressed during the engine pull. Head gaskets, front and rear mains, tensioner pads, GTS oil pan baffle, silicone pan gasket, new head studs, the works. Brad says it’s the cleanest motor with 104000 miles he has ever seen with no varnish or carbon buildup anywhere. The heads were in great condition with no pitting or warping. The valve guides were checked for play and are fine. A bunch of WYAI’s were/are being done like a leaky power steering line. I’ve give his phone number to a serious buyer for any questions. For that matter, if you are serious you can call DR as well.
It’s got an S4 front suspension conversion to accommodate the S4 brakes with case-hole rotors, silver calipers with red lettering to match the valve covers, Eibach’s and Bilsteins, DR rear sway bar, motorsport x-pipe, Paul Champagne seats, pod, shifter and boot. I could go on and on but it would take forever. If you are a serious buyer, pm me with your phone number and I’ll crack a few beers while I tell you about everything.
Price is $21,000 with the wheels, $19,000 without (which means you will get the car with the original wheels). I know it’s a lot for an 85 but it’s no ordinary 85 either and most of you all know that. I know the market is tough too. I have an appraisal for $24,500 but that’s really only for insurance purposes. The car is not going on ebay because it’s too special and I don’t need to sell it. I just have any itch for a newer 928 with a 5-spd. That’s all I will say for now . If it does sell, I promise to post about it’s replacement. If not, I'm still a very lucky guy for keeping it.

Shaun,
Your car looks great. I hope you get what you want. If I already didn't have one I'd buy it. Good luck.

I saw the car over at Brad's shop Friday. It will be 100% ready to go when he gets it back together. Well worth $21k and definitely $19k if you want to put your own wheels on it.
Here's a shot of it at SITM '08.

David,
Pouring money into cars is part of the circle of life, right?
Just got your S4 cleaned up again, been driving it alot. Stainless X-pipe just arrived will get installed soon. So it seems I'll be spending more money too.
Popo, that is a beautiful car, makes me think I should plan for Paul Champagne seats.

That is one VERY NICE 928S! I LOVE IT! Hope you get every penny you are looking for out of it, I can't imagine you won't! Though it does seem that the S/Ced and Turboed cars loose some (or even a lot of their value) in the GTS's, I am not sure that will be the case on the S or S4 cars. We just don't see enough of them for sale to gauge that kind of thing. It usually ends up if you are selling what two people are looking for you do well, if not you have to sit on it awhile and take far less than you would like. I guess it is that way with anything though!
Maybe someone will want to get themselves a nice Christmas gift this year!

Hey Shawn,
sorry to hear you are thinking of selling your baby. I know first hand how much time, effort and money you put into that car, and you did take it to a standard few can achieve.
Let me know if there is anything you need.

Thanks to all of you for the kudos on the car. It's an odd feeling, checking the post and pms. On one hand, I don't want to see it go. But I'm excited if the plan comes together. Sorry Brian and Charles - I'm not gonna spill the beans!
As far as dyno numbers, DR has them somewhere as he dynoed it right after installation. 378 rwhp was the best number according to DR. The only dyno I have was the very first run at 362.67. You can see at 4700 rpms, the curve flatens and gets choppy. Darien's car did the same thing at 4700 rpm, before he got his timing issues right. If it were sharktuned for the timing, it shouldn't flaten out and should extrapolate to 425 ish.
