Nothing wrong with that, but it sort like fishing, you don't know when you will get a bite. There are threads on refurb the CE panel, pics etc. Google, Pirtle and Nicols. Those are invaluable site for 928 trouble shooting.

Welcome and good luck.
Thanks - I did all that. I am a bit clumsy with the Thread thing. I have never used these before and so I am just learning discussion forums. I had been reading this one before I got my car so thats for the search tip I will try that.

I did register etc, I have my manuals, relay charts are posted on my garage wall and in front of my computer. I have emailed several dismantlers already for the panel. One is near home so I am hoping I ca just wait until they have one.

Thanks again for the advice - still looking for someone to tell me what the lone open plug connector is??

I was tempted also by the exterior, the price and the fact it was around the corner.....but then the alarm bells started ringing.

I wouldn't run the car like that, looks like it is one short away from a fire.

Also see when the timing belt and water oump (TB/WP) service was last done. If over 5 years or 50k miles it's time for it to be done again.

When you do the motor mounts I would put in a new steering rack and replace the oil pan gasket if they are leaking.
Thanks , the panel has been repaired, I just don't like how they did it r how it looks. The relay is sitting behind the panel and is attached, nothing there to short against but I will be fixing it.

I have no timing belt history so it is on the list but the belt tension is good and the belt appears to be recent. I will not risk it though.

Engine is clean no leaks, generally everything in the bay is in great shape. Tie rods are work no other front end play. Lots of vibrations from the bad mounts though. Engine doesnt move at all when its revved.!! I will compile a list hopefully with everyones help for what to redo when I am doing the mounts. Bushings, gastkets etc...

Thanks you are all great...

I love this car, even if it has been beat up a bit..

I was really well aware of what I might find but the one owner part and the price made it worth the risk.. Looking at it now I am quite happy and feel I got a good deal, by the time I am finished it will be great and still a bargain. I did figure in the repairs and the unknowns when I bought it. I needed a hobby and didn't have a lot of money to buy one with fewer issues. I expect I will get a few more surprises but I bought it as a hobby so am happy- especially with all of you helping me.....

In the end thats why it was affordable, too risky for some..

I agree, you got a good deal for your situation. In my case, having 2 or more 928's with issues....that's masochistic.
