Default Oil out the dip stick

On the '83 Euro, all of a sudden I'm blowing lots of oil out the dip stick hole. It seems to happen most if I'm running up to six grand to shift. The only change recently is that the oil gauge has quit reading accurately but I'm thinking that is just coincidence.

Anything obvious come to mind?

Split o-ring on the dip stick? Its available on its own - I grabbed one a wihle back and installed as the original o-ring was pretty hard.

What XLOT says, split or hard o-ring at the top of the dip stick. Used to happen to me at the track until a friend (Jean-Louis) rigged up a make shift o-ring and the problem has since been solved.

Thanks guys I'll check the o ring. Sounds like a job for racing tape, until I can get my hands on a new one.
