Inspired by a recent post made by hopwood I thought it would be cool if those of us that have a large collection of 928 literature like brochures, color charts, options, posters etc can post pictures of each piece of their collection.
Not only will this help many of us find the right literature for our cars but it will also help many of use determine what was considered standard, optional or custom.
I haven't had very good luck finding any literature with exception to the 1990 full line brochure below:

I could probably figure this out by looking through Jim's files on the CD, but is there any sort of unique identifier /part number/ID on Porsche literature that could be used to catalogue stuff? For instance, the '78 928 brochure has some sort of number 73-77-86010 on it. Page 2 of Volume 1 of the WSM says WKD 481 621, and then print # W42-608-126-1. Volume 2 has the same two numbers of page 2. The ABS test procedure manual has PNA 000042 on it.
It would be interesting to know if there's a rhyme or reason to the brochure/tech document numbering system. It's probably asking too much for there to be an overarching system that's been consistently applied for 30+ years, but then again, they're German...
Afshin- FWIW, I have a 1990 Porsche Fact Book with the MSRP price list insert, $5 on Ebay. I can post the part # if I can find it![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Erkka?

I wish I knew where I can download some of the Porsche videos. Stuff like the 928 ads etc. If there is a lister with a collection that they would consider selling copies of I am interested. I am not looking for something for nothing. I'm looking for videos of Porsche 928 ads and television programs of good quality and with no "You TUBE" insignia in the corner. I have the 928 brochure for 1986 I believe. I'll have to look in my files. I bought it off E-bay as well ....tnx

I have some vintage 928 and 911 brochures and literature both US and German. I also have the press release packets for many of the models including the GTS and a great packet on the 3.8RS and RSR's. I will see if I can take pictures of the GTS press release info and post.
I have PDF files of the GTS Catalog and brochure unfortunately they are large files and I have no way of hosting them.

I have printed several ads off line on photo paper, framed them and hung them in the garage. Not originals, but they actaully look better than the magazine ads I have cut out and mounted.
Here's a rare one...

That is good! Do you have a high res. version?
I have the 1988 Porsche 928 928S4 Prestige Brochure in german. I could scan it? It's like this:

I finally dug the 1990 fact book out tonight, there are no part numbers or publishing info anywhere in the booklet. Oh well. It is an intersting read, tho. To wit:

1. Factory model and MY specific brochure
- These follow specific yearly format and color theme. In most MY all different models (911, 928, 944 etc) have exact same cover color choices.
- Usually these are 24 to 36 pages and very good quality.
- These were printed by the factory in several different languages, at least in german, english, frech, spanish and italian. Also possibly in some years in japanise and other languages as well. All versions share similar layout and in many cases pictures are exact same. In different language texts most of the stuff is direct translation but there are market specific differencees like in many cases french brochure says some feature is not standard in french model etc.
- There are several different english language versions, one for US, one for UK, possibly one generic LHD ROW engish version for smaller markets to which factory didn't bother to do own language version and in some years also separate version for Australian market. Main difference between these separate versions is picture of car used.
- It seems factory took several different cars to one and same location for photo shoot and used market specific pics in each market specific brochure. For example in '92 GTS case there were at least US, Germal and UK cars, one each, which were taken into Italy. French etc. LHD ROW markets brochures use German market protos. Very early and couple last years are different as it seems they didn't bother to do so complex photo sessions that each market brochure would get so much attention.
- Usually these are printed in late summer right around time when new MY is released but 2nd, 3rd etc printings can be done later on as needed.
- In case of mid MY new model introductions like '89 GT and '91 944 Turbo cabrio much thinner half dozen page brochures were made for these specific models in middle of MY in same style as '89 928 S4 and '91 944 brochure printed earlier at the beginning of MY. These didn't have thick cover sheet like actual MY specific brochure to save on printing costs. Similarly Porsche was so proud of 928 PSD that they did separate few page brochure for it in '90 MY brochure style.
- In those MY's where technical data is not included into actual brochure, separate few page tech spec sheet is included. Many times these are missing from brochures sold in eBay.
- Style of these can be split into groups based on shape, size and colors used, something like this IIRR without checking actual year to year changes:
'78 = first dark blue brochure
'78-79 = colorful '70s style
'80-82 = technical drawing style cover
'83-86 = large square style with single bold color cover
'87-91 = large square style with grey single color cover and specific style cover texts. There were more minor MY specific alterations like narrow dark red band on top of cover in '91 MY IIRR.
'92-93 = A4 size grey cover. Two MY's can be separated from each other by checking if front cover has cutout for 1st page picture
'94-95 = A5 size hard cover in very dark colors. Whole color setup and brochure feel seems to have change almost overnight from grey cover and white pages to almost all black with little red here and there look. Its as if Porsche realised '90s recession was on and as everything looked dark so even brochures have to reflect this.
2. Full model line factory brochure
- These follow same yearly color and layout format as 1. factory model specific brochures. At first pages there is some generic stuff and then each model has few pages reserved for it.
- These were printed in multible language like 1. including japanise and possibly several different english versions were done for different markets too.
3. Factory color chart
- Separate brochure which shows stock paint and interior color choices available at the time. Some other colors seem to have been actually available also besides ones shown in each MY specific color chart. Usually these were ones which had been brochure colors few years prior to actual MY production. These are different than actual paint to sample option and might not have cost any more to get than MY specific choices.
- In '83-86 time period 1. style factory brochure had color samples in its last pages and it seems separate color charts were not made.
- These were done in at least german and english language versions, maybe others too but I haven't managed to find much info about that.
4. Factory model specific poster brochure
- These are simple one large paper sheet which has poster picture of one car on one side and data sheets for all models on other. They fold to 1. factory model specific brochure size and shape setup to have uniform look with other factory stuff available during each MY.
- These were made in several MY's in late '80s at least.
5. US market imported printed brochures
- It seems US importer has its own design brochures made in several MY's. These do not follow same shape and color layouts as same MY factory stuff.
- Example of this kind of brochure is in Marine Blue's picture.
- In some early '80s years also Audi models where included in these as importer brought in both makes.
1. to 4. all or at least almost all have factory specific part number assigned and printed somewhere, usually inside back cover. Many other types of brochures, literature for salesmen, posters etc. were made over the years. Some like dealer factbook seem to have been yearly feature while others were only done once or twice for some specific reason.

Rob thanks for the pictures, looks like it might be worthwhile. The link doesn't work for me, was it working yesterday?
Erkka,
As always you're a wealth of information. How long have you been researching 928's?

That was a lot of work.
The MY info books produced by PCNA as shown above I find are limited on the accuracy of some info. More of a salesman's guide than anything else. I believe you are forgetting the press release documents which consisted of the black and white photos and a breakdown of the model. These later went to color slides around 1996 then CD roms of photos and eventually DVD's as they supply now. There is also the factory technik documents that are training guides for the mechanics to brush up on the new changes to the upcoming MY. These came with the white covers.
I attached a picture of the press release for a 3.8 RS/RSR. I have a ton of this info although only one packet for the GTS. I thought I had pictures of the technik documents, must be a different PC. But they were sometimes model specific and sometimes year specific all models.

928 brochures can be split into several categories. Yours is example of US importer brochure. There exists are at least these different types of brochures:
