Here's another 928 that went carbs. I'll see if I can find his info for you. I got my first MSD billet distributor off him.
BTW I still have the MSD ignition custom mounts if anyone wants them. Pay shipping. I have the 928MS cross brace now and it won't work on the square shape.

Is there a MSD set available or must it be custom made/adapted ?
thanks, Norbert

Thank you very much to: XLOT,BIG MAC,BELGIUM BARRY;JIM BALLEY,LARRY928,DR BOBB,ANDRE HEDRICK,BPGfor information about carbs conversion, yes is true F I is better, but as the car will race in Historic challenge,i need to fit carbs,as Kjetronic cannot give much fuel as carbs(i think).I would ask to Belgium barry if is possible to fit Weber IDA withouth modify the bonnet and if yes how to do it? Carl's K-jet distributor can support 450+ RWHP. Are you running more than that?
I have had my distributor slits ported, with larger 3 an fuel lines. Unwired tools makes an electronic WUR that's programable to change control pressure over vacuum and rpms.

Carl @ 928motorsports.com sells a CIS distributor that is already done and also has individual adjuster for each of the 8 fuel lines. (Mine does not)
As fo the mod, there are several pages on the net about it. I'll see if I bookmarked it. I had my local machine shop do the work on the plunger. Basically only the upper most part of the slits are widened allowing for normal idle and cruise.

Slits on the control plunger are .2mm consistant top to bottom. Opening up only at the very bottom of the slit will give more full at WOT only. (Depending on what you do with control pressure)
The unwired tools WUR provides even more control, as you can get the distibutor to flow more across the whole range, yet change control pressure across vacuum, allowing for proper A/F mix.

I'm sure the big three would still be using carbs because "their customers demanded it" and dissing the euro and asian product with the "extra complexity" of fuel injection. Probably taking about how carbs add a little road-hugging weight. Of course they'd have FI on all their Euro product, but that wouldn't be available in the U.S.

Just think, they could actually have thrown away _even more_ market share.
