Default URGENT!! - Change of VENUE at 3rd COAST WELCOME PARTY

Everyone Planning on attending 3rd COAST,

We are moving the Friday Night Meeting Venue to the River City Grill at 6:30pm.
Chili's was a total pain in dealing with, River City was more than gracious!!! It's located just to the left of Chili's accross the parking lot from the Hampton.

They've reserved a great area on the huge deck overlooking Lake Marble Falls, so head straight to the back or ask where the 928 group is. Heaters will be out there, but bring a jacket and warm clothes as it may get a little chilly/breezy on the lake. Music, good food, drinks, gotta love it!!!

Weather for the Hill country over the weekend will look like this
http://weather.yahoo.com/forecast/USTX0829_f.html
Gotta love Texas in November!!!!!!!

All other events will stay the same. See y'all there!!!

Hey Chuck. although I surely won't be there, (I live near the FOURTH coast in Michigan) I'm not suprised Chili's gave you a hassel...... They're a CHAIN RESTAURANT that really does not give an f'n damn about people. Now you're going to a nice locally owned, family-operated business who supports the community they're located in. Its kinda like buying from Rog, Jim & Mark, Dave, Tim, Carl and the rest of the independent 928 supplier guys instead of the porsche dealer (who also doesn't give an f'n damn)! As a restaurant owner I applaud your move and hope all 928'rs think about this again when dining with family and friends during the holidays coming. Have fun!

Paul,

You hit the nail on the head!! I was blown away how the mgr told me that we can't do this and cannot do that, it's against policy, we don't take resv, etc, etc.
I don't really want to go into it, bottom line is that they will lose a 50 top to their next door neighbor, who was more than happy to take care of us!!!
In this economic time, nobody can treat potential customers like this guy did.
We'll speak w our dollars man!!

Looking forward to a great weekend!!

We have found it hard to make dinner reservations for a party of 30-50 people on a Saturday evening without having to Guarantee or do the banquet menu etc. etc. So many places hope to turn the tables two-three times if they only knew how much 928 owners tend to DRINK maybe they would not worry about it !

Jim, I hear you! A typical 928 gathering goes something like this:

Jim, that would normally not be an issue except we've been there before and we were told by the GM months ago that things would be just fine. Chuck called to double check and I'm glad he did. The place we are going to is right next door. They built a new deck in the past year and the guy was very happy we chose them over his competition. The dude at Chili's just lost several thousand in revenue for the weekend.

I'm sure his regional rep will not be happy about this, when he gets the letter on Monday.

Jim, you are correct. However every restaurant NEEDS to turn his tables on a weekend at least once or he won't be there next year. You don't have to be a genius to be busy on a Friday or Saturday night at 6:00 in December. Having said that, if you adjust the time for your reservation from say, 6:30pm and make it 8:00 or 8:30pm there probably wouldn't be an issue with the average place and you'll be partying well into the night. I'm in a business that is getting it's *** kicked in every direction: Beef alone is up 25-35% in the past 3 months and chicken, pork and produce are approaching those percentages. It's an endless $$$$ pit sometimes and reminds me (ever so slightly) of my '91 $$$$4. The current word in my industry is: "The way to make a small fortune in the restaurant business is to start with a large one"! It does not matter if you are in Kalifornia, Tex-*** or in the winter wonderland (Michigan) the story is the same (except we only get about 6 decent months to enjoy our sharks). In any case, always spend the extra money you're not shelling out on repairing or upgrading your 928 at an independent restaurant; they give a damn!

Donald,
Don't worry partner, with drinking buddies like Roger, Sean, and Marc White, the party will be going strong by the time you show up!!!

Remind me to tell you the story about Jim Mayzurk and him thinking that the Hampton had a Penthouse suite when he got on the elevator!!!!
