Wiper delay ?

Wiper delay ?
In delay one wipe
In wash mode one wipe
Wipers park, high and low work.
Getting the dash together and the wiper delay does not work so I did a little research seems VW relay 3B0955531 will provides a true delay. I am having problems now so want to make sure everything works before I start replacing relays. If I replace it with the VW style do I bypass the adjustment control switch or leave it as is "assuming it good", what is the ohm reading on the dimmer switch from low to high.
Any hints on verifying why it does not work now, I thought that the wiper should wipe 3-times when the washer is requested. Washer is not working but I'm sure its a under the hood issue.

The relay alone does the timing for the 3 wipes - you are correct thats what it should do - the rheostat (dimmer switch) just changes the intermittent delay (e.g. off time) it won't affect this.
The VW digital relay doesn't use the rhesotat but you can leave it - it doesn't need to be touched.

Roger sells the programmable relay for a good price. I bought one for kicks even though the wipers seldom if ever get used. It never rains in Cali, I don't drive in the rain, so it gets used only when there's dew or mist something. Challenge was getting the 'programming' down pat. By the time I got the thing programmed, I was out of available rain. Of course, it forgets the programming every time I cycle the power by turning the car off. So in the end I proved that it worked by running the wipers in the 'arrow' position. Still doesn't mean I want to drive in the rain on purpose though.
Still have the original relay in the spare parts box in case a future owner wants to return it to the way the factory built it.
